Recap: we are selling both our rental and our home in order to buy a property elsewhere in London (and we'll eventually buy a flat to rent nearby as well)
Our tenant has agreed to buy our house, which would make life so much easier. He loves the house and had stated in the summer that if we ever wanted to sell, he'd be happy to buy it. So, he's going to try to buy it. Crossing my fingers that he can get a mortgage!
We have our first viewing this weekend of our house. It would be amazing if the person put in an offer. I don't expect it, but it'd be fabulous. Right now our house isn't being marketed outside of the estate agency, but if we don't get an offer before the holidays, then we'll put it out on the internet/market it in the new year.
On the positive side for buying, the area we're looking at is struggling to sell houses at the prices that they were just a year ago. The market has a LOT of houses on sale, unlike here where there aren't quite as many for the same price. So, if we can sell both houses, we'll be in a good position to buy (we'll be cash buyers as we'll be able to pay off our mortgage).
