discogranny nominated Center for Transforming Lives, and it has been chosen as our board charity this year. I will be turning over the post to her for more information.

Thank you - I am very excited to have CEP support CFTL this year! My family just cleared out, so I will get the Amazon wishlists up and running tomorrow morning as well as information about other needs from the org.

Good morning everyone!
First, I just want to thank you for choosing Center for Transforming Lives this year. They are doing such incredible work in my community and I am proud to share their mission with you. If you would like more information about the organization, their website is here. Please also feel free to ask me any questions you have.
I have created an Amazon wish list with all of the items from the Making it Real Campaign I mentioned in my nomination post. If you missed that info, you can visit here and read about the needs and how these "small" items will make a big difference to women and families coming home for the first time after experiencing homelessness. I set the list up with the idea of three complete kits to make some of the multi-quantity items make sense, so if you see a multiple quantity needed, that is why. Feel free to buy one item or as many as you'd like - CFTL will be thrilled with all of the donations of any quantity.
I am working on creating a wish list of items from the organization's ongoing needs. These aren't specific to the holiday, but are a huge help for the nonprofit and those they serve. Since a large portion of the children in their early childhood programs are either attending via government funds or scholarship, the childcare center always has needs for day to day items that the parents are not able to provide. There are also needs in the financial empowerment and emergency shelter operations as well. I should have this completed by this evening.
The shipping address for both of these lists is directly to the nonprofit, to their volunteer and community outreach coordinator. I have let him know we are going to be sending items directly to him.
If you would prefer to shop locally and ship your items, please feel free. The mailing address for the items is:

Hi everyone - I am going to be traveling for work for the next four days, so I won't be able to come online much, but wanted to give you an update. Christopher received his first package from a CEP-er and was thrilled. He is going to set everything he receives in the mail aside for the next couple of weeks and then take some photos of it for me to share online so you guys can see the collective impact you are making. Thank you again!

Hello everyone -
I wasn't able to get super great photos yesterday because there was a wedding starting in an hour (the CFTL is in a historic building and one of their side businesses is renting the venue, all proceeds from the rental go back into the programs) and the bride wasn't too keen on me taking all of our donations out of the holding closet and stacking them up while she was taking her pre-wedding photos. I will go back early next week and pull everything out and take better photos, however I did get a few quick snaps and have some fun updates.
Our donations have taken over a recently vacated office. Christopher explained that items would be coming in the mail, but he has been getting so many Amazon boxes that rumors are going around about him having a shopping problem.
As of right now we have provided a full kit to a family that was placed last week - the woman had no idea that CFTL had started collecting the kits so when she received a full house of items, she burst into tears. Her favorite item was the kitchen towels - she said she had never had towels that were not from the dollar store and they were so luxurious.
We have also provided enough items to complete another two full kits and are very close to completing a fourth kit. The Amazon list has the remaining items if you are still wanting to purchase. The CEO met with me briefly yesterday and they are absolutely floored at the generosity of the group (if a little confused on how I "know" you guys...)
They have four more families moving in the next month, so I am hoping one might be willing to give her story. If not, just know what you all are doing is amazing.
I have a question from the org: Do those who have donated want tax receipts? If so, can you send me a PM?
Also - would you guys want to see photos of the mission in action? Like from the child development center and one of the rooms in the long-term shelter? I wasn't sure if that would be of interest.
The photos here are the office crammed full of our items (including some local drop offs from me and others) - and Christopher showing his appreciation. More to come!
