Anyhoo, just popping in to ask if I was the only person who was surprised to see that Bob Dole is still alive. I swear, I thought I remembered his death about 10 years ago, but I guess not.
I too had thought he had passed away. I knew he had health issues.
He definitely didn't look good during the Capitol salute. I was holding my breath for that whole video clip, hoping he didn't collapse.
It's really pissing me off that the news is giving Trump so much credit for coming to the funeral and refraining from attacking the Bush family this week. Is this really how low we've sunk? Just being human is now a surprising news story?

you know he became President today. Tommy Vietor said on twitter he's getting credit for not tipping over the casket.

It's so true. The fact that he was able to attend an event and not have a temper tantrum and run down the aisle kicking and screaming is a major accomplishment.

Saudi Amb. to the US Khalid bin Salman, brother of the Saudi crown prince, has returned to the US for first time since Khashoggi killing, and plans to attend Bush’s funeral. https://
I, too, have never insulted anyone at a funeral. I hope someone in the media will pick up on this and run a story with the headline: “Middle aged Midwestern woman maintains decorum at funeral of distant relative she didn’t actually like that much.”
Ya know how some people are just good in situations like this (funerals, family events)? W seems like one of those people. Thanking everyone for being there, giving Michelle candy, crying a little, laughing a lot, etc.
I think he's speaking next? So that might all fall apart, but he just seems like one of those people.
At work, so unfortunately not watching except the brief clips of Trump arriving in the row, then later W greeting everyone (and giving Michelle another candy, awwww).
Boy, does Trump seem way out of place in that pew.

Hillary refusing to even turn to look at 45 was amazing.

The larger accomplishment was the grace that GHWB bestowed on Drumpf by allowing him to attend (as was decided prior to his death).
I hate any focus on 45 that takes away from 41 today. Not directed to you personally but the media at large. Blah.
Trump was sitting there half the time with his arms crossed and a pout on his face like a toddler who got the red sippy cup instead of the yellow sippy cup.

Why'd he have to die and have this stupid funeral? *kicks pew* No one is paying attention to MEEEEE!!!!!!!!
I'm just now watching the eulogy. So powerful but also made me wonder if Cheeto-in-Chief is actually listening to any of this. Such a stark comparison to the way he does just about everything in his life.

I also noticed neither he nor Melania said the Apostle's Creed. Looks like it was printed in the program, so they could have just opened it and stared down to at least fake it, but they both just stood there looking petulant.

Jeb didn’t say it either. I don’t think 45’s made any secret about the fact that he’s not religious, so I’m glad he didn’t profess a faith that he doesn’t really believe in. When I have been in similar situations, I don’t say it either because it’s not something I believe and I feel it’s disrespectful to pretend I do believe it.

And also, Trump can't really read. There are an awful lot of words in the Apostle's Creed that he would not be able to identify.

I don’t expect non religious people to say the Apostle’s Creed. In fact, I consider it disrespectful to say prayers if you don’t believe them. I stay respectfully quiet during prayers or the “under God” line in the Constitution.

I missed the Jeb camera shot, and wouldn't want someone to say something they don't believe in, but I thought I distinctly remembered him talking about how he's religious during the election....and we all know the evangelicals fall all over themselves for him.
I honestly don't care if he truly believes Christian tenets, but I swear I remember him talking about his "great faith" in the past. I don't know, it just struck me as one more thing about him that is fake.
