You guys convinced me that a bounce house would be a good idea, so my mom got one for the boys for Christmas. I am debating setting it up Christmas morning so they see it when they come downstairs, but I think they might get too distracted with it to open presents. lol I am mostly concerned about how loud it will be though.
So, how loud are these things? Can you talk a normal volume when it's inside? They're going to want to spend the day in this thing and we have a house full of people. I don't care if they're antisocial and play in the bounce house, but I don't want to shout over it all day.
They are fairly loud when inside and you would have to talk loud or shout. The noise scares 2 of my 2.5 year olds and it takes them awhile to be ok with it. I'd wait

The noise won't scare them. They love bounce houses, even the indoor ones. But that may mean we need to set it up in the basement. I just really didn't want to do that for Christmas because I don't want to hang out in the basement with so many people here.

I wouldn't want it running while we were trying to open presents. I'd probably do presents and then bring them in another room to (eat breakfast? get changed?) and have someone pull it out and set it up once I was ready.
I would think the fan would be pretty loud indoors (we only use ours outdoors). The idea of having it set up is super fun, but I wouldn't want ours set up in the middle of the area where we're opening gifts. I'd do it in the basement and maybe make that the last gift they "open."

That's a good idea. I like the idea of telling them there's one more surprise downstairs, maybe after breakfast. I think I just need to commit myself to spending part of the day down there with them.
I’d definitely do it downstairs. The noise from the fan will probably be the least of your worries. You’ll have kids squealing with glee the entire time. A wonderful sound, but one that is difficult to talk over!

Yep, we opened all our other presents then took the kids to the basement for the big reveal (I had gone downstairs a few minutes before to turn it on).
We use ours in the basement occasionally and I actually don’t find it as loud as I would expect. It’s definitely a good basement toy since they take up so much space. DD can only ever last 20-30 minutes at a go in hers so I imagine you will be back and forth with the boys. Are there other kids/parents coming to the party? That would spread around the supervisory requirements. I also wouldn’t hesitate to tell the kids that the machine needs a ‘break’.
I'd definitely set it up in the basement. It's maybe a little quieter than a hairdryer? It's loud enough that I wouldn't want it in the main area. If there are other kids you definitely only need one parent keeping an eye on them.

Santa left a note last year that there was one more present downstairs, maybe do something like that? DD's kitchen weighs a ton - there was no way we were bringing it upstairs to be near the tree, then dragging it downstairs again, so Santa had it all set up downstairs.

No other kids, but both of our moms and their aunt and uncle will be here, all of whom will happily hang out down there with them. And hopefully telling them to take a break won’t be such a let down, what with the obscene amount of new toys they’ll receive and all. 😉
I would put the box under the tree and set it up later, and not in a he maine living space. It’s pretty loud and distracting.
That said, they are going to love it so much! Ours got one for Christmas last year and we used it pretty much every day all winter. It’s sanity-saving!
