Car seat and booster questions

Ds is 7, over 55 pounds and over 49 inches. We are looking for a small booster he can put in a backpack to ride with friends, travel with, etc. any thoughts on the mifold or bubblebum? Portability is key.


Also looking for an inexpensive FF travel car seat for a 2.5 year old who is over 30 pounds and over 34 inches. Hopefully something we could just use for travel until he’s booster sized.

We have both. The miFold is significantly smaller but more fiddly to use correctly. Of the two, I always opt for the bubble bum when we travel.

I’ve heard the bubblebum is generally considered safer. I guess raising them up does help with safety to a certain extent.

We’ve been traveling with a Graco tranzitions and have been happy with it. It’s FF, high back booster and low back booster so it’ll last forever!

The bubble bum is reputed to give a far better belt fit, so that’s what we have. I find it easy to use and very lightweight.

We have both. The bubble bum is much easier to use, especially for a kid. The mifold also gave us trouble at TSA one time during travel - they didn’t know what it was and almost didn’t let us go through with it. The metal in it looks suspect on the X-ray machine.

We’ve been very happy with the bubblebum. We only use it for travel though.
