We saw a mouse under the hood of my jeep a couple weeks ago. We moved the jeep, drove around it, etc. It doesn't get used every single day anymore. Well, I just cleaned out my car (took out some newspapers, had a blanket or two in the back seat), had some clean dishes in there that I bought.
Mouse shit everywhere. Tons and tons of mouse piss. Everything is chewed, EVERYTHING! The little fucks found a packet of lemonade drink mix (probably had fallen under the seat long ago) and drug it up to the front seat and chewed through it. That is a sticky mess from it raining last night and I guess humidity getting to it.
Apparently it's been hoarding newspapers under the back seats and it looks like a rather large home under there but I cannot get to all of it because the seats are in the way.
I'm going to have to talk to my Husband about taking all the seats out and seeing what I can do to clean them up.
I'm grossed out, so SO grossed out.
I've got about 2 grand left to pay on it and it was in nice condition! We've never had a mouse issue before and it's sat before not being used without this crap.
This was quite common when I lived in Seattle due to the wet weather.
One got in our neighbors car and chewed holes in the seats, chewed through the antenna wire and pissed everywhere. She finally found it dead in the trunk. It was nasty.
did you think you had gotten it out when you found it a few weeks ago?
My Husband tried to grab it but it ran inside under the hood somewhere. So he drove it around for a while then used it a few times a week. We thought that it had left. Nope. Apparently it came inside and from the amount of everything, looks like it brought friends.
We haven't really used the jeep in a week and this wasn't all there a week ago or if it was, we didn't notice it. Now we notice it and now that I've dug a bit deeper, I'm really seeing the extent of the problem.
But I don't know HOW to keep them out now? I feel so dirty and gross, yet I know my car wasn't gross by any means, everything in there was just blankets, a small stack of newspapers, and plates. Stuff I wouldn't find odd really.
I'm sorrry. This happened to me too. I got them from carrying firewood in my trunk. We used live traps. Have you had anything weird in your jeep? Are you parking near a wood pile or something they could climb into the jeep with? I would set a live trap and check it periodically to make sure there are no more guests.

Less then 10 feet away, the neighbor has a huge, and I mean HUGE, wood pile stacked up under the trees. It just, was never a problem before.
you better make sure they didnt chew the wires under the car, my MIL had a mouse chew through the wires while she was driving the back cargo door opened and her dog fell out and died

I've got a better one, this 100% true. About 2 weeks ago a co-worker asked me if I could see a police car in our parking lot. I could only see the end of it, which meant it was by her car. We've had catalytic converters and batteries (!) stolen lately. She got a call to come down to her car. There was about 11" of long gray hair hanging out of her tail pipe. Police asked her if she'd hit anything recently... uh no. So he got a tool out of his car and started pulling the hair out. It eventually filled a large paper grocery sack plus a pile on the ground. She only drives this car in the summer and had been driving it for several weeks. They think a rodent stole horse hair from a neighbors barn and had built a nest up in her exhaust system. She always drives with the windows cracked so if there was any carbon monoxide build, it didn't affect her. They told her to have it checked, the car might have problems. It cost her $1100 in repairs. I saw pictures of the hair hanging out of the tail pipe, the grocery sack full plus the pile on the ground. Someone we work with noticed the hair, didn't know who's car it was and called our HR. They called the police to find out who owned it, they came out to see why HR wanted a plate run.

OMG. I'm SO thankful you didn't say it was a cat! LOL

mice suck! We were driving on the highway a couple months back and all of a sudden my husband says there is a mouse on the hood! We were going 70+ miles and hour down the highway and the little guy was out in the air between the hood and the windshield. He probably had to come out because he got to hot from the engine. Never found any damage in the car or under the hood so far. We have mice in our house too which sucks.

Husband unbolted and lifted up the seats so I can better scrub under them and clean my seats so they don't smell like ucky mouse anymore.
While he was unbolting the seats, I noticed this FAT ASS mouse scamper away and crawl up the drain to the garage. Ugh!!
I've read they don't like super strong smells, so not only am I going to clean the seats with vinegar and baking soda but they whole car is getting a spray down of vinegar + lemon mixed.
I had some papers in my glove box, the fuckers chewed straight across the piece of paper and left maybe 3 inches of it left. And they stole the rest of the piece!
Thankfully they haven't chewed through any wires that we can see or through the seats.
