I save these up and them spit them out all at once.
1. I haven't felt him/her move yet. I'm 17 wks, 2 days. This is normal, yes? My midwife didn't even blink when I told her I hadn't felt anything, but all my friends and family felt movement by this point and I'm getting impatient. Am I just not noticing it? Can I make it move? All the comparisons to gas bubbles and such don't really help because I am kinda constantly gassy and gurgly so it might just be blending in.
2. I'm due in late February. I'm a selfish bint and don't want baby stuff for christmas. I want stuff for ME. Can I wait till after the holidays to make a registry so people aren't tempted to shop from it for me? Or is that too long to wait? I know a shower is being planned because I was asked for contact info for assorted friends, but I have no idea when it is being planned for at this point. I guess I could ask.
3. Talk to me about strollers. We've talked about this before, but this time I'll take notes. MH has his heart set on a BOB, and that's fine, he can throw that monster in his truck, and we'll get good use of it on the paved trails around our house, but I want something as compact and easy to fold as possible while still having good push for solo trips. And not costing $500. What are my options?
4. And also carriers/slings/etc. Not so much specific brands, but pluses and minuses of different styles...?
1. I felt first movement at 18-19w. It will happen and yes, it can feel like gas. ETA: It took me WEEKS to decide that it was the baby and not what I ate for lunch.
2. Set up a registry when you want to. My shower was very late into my pg and half the guest didn't pay attention to it anyway.
3. I had a Peg Perego and that sucker was completely sturdy through two kids and a boatload of outdoor excursions on rough terrain. It folded like a breeze and I even managed to give it to a friend for use with a third kid. I want to say it was ~$200.
4. I have no advice here because my son hated being in one.

1. Childhood bff is an ob/gyn and is 23 weeks pregnant. She JUST felt her baby move. She wasn't concerned. You're ok. It's the first time, you don't know what you're waiting FOR, exactly, plus if your placenta is in the way, it may be harder to feel. 2. You CAN make a registry after Christmas but I wouldn't wait too long afterward, because people may want to jump on sales and stuff. Or holiday shipping. 3. We had a Graco travel system which wasn't SO bad trying to open and close the stroller once you got the hang of it. It was much, much easier to steer than an ubrella stroller. But I am clumsy. 4. Didn't babywear. Tried an off-brand front carrier and my boobs are too big for that shit.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
1. I felt movement at 20 weeks exactly. It felt like gas but in the same place over and over. Never stopped after that lol.
2. I'd wait to register if you want.
3. We have a snap and go for the car seat which is great for now. But we also need an umbrella type sometime soon. I think we will get a maclaren but not sure. We adore the Bob!!
4. I have found the moby and ring sling harder to wear than I had expected. Next time I think I want a soft carrier that is more structured. But we do love our ergo. The bjorn is uncomfortable BUT I can do it by myself easily.

1. I didn't feel Hunter until 19 or 20 weeks. It's not a big deal. 2. You could always have your Baby showers before Christmas, then you'll have everything by Christmas. . . leaving only things for you. Usually showers are done around 2 months out. 3. Strollers- I love my Baby Jogger City Mini GT. I also have a Bumbleride Indie Twin. I sold my umbrella stroller (Uppababy G-Luxe) and my snap n go. I love the all terrain wheels, and having fewer strollers was priority for me. I didn't want to own several strollers, and once I realized how much I love an all terrain, so I sold the other two to put $ towards the GT. ETA: forgot 4 because Mom called. I love my Baby K'tan and my Ergo. H loves the Ergo. I had a ring sling and hated it.

Maclaren strollers are the bomb. We've had a million and one, and they're really the best.
I know you didn't ask, but best source for strollers (and carseats) : www.albeebaby.com/ Free shipping, no tax!
When baby is tiny, wrap-style carriers like the Moby are awesome. Fairly cheap, or you can make your own for under $10. Later, carriers like the Ergo and Beco are, IMHO, the best. You want something with padding on the shoulders and waist, and something with a sternum strap for when baby is on your back.
Personally, I could never make slings work for me. And tied carriers (like Me-tais) are pretty but awful to navigate if you're by yourself.
1. Movement: 16 weeks as bubbles and 18 weeks more like little jabs.
2. Registry: when I found out the gender I could not wait to make a registry. Start thinking/making soon but don't make it public until you are ready.
3. Strollers: I regret our expensive stroller. We don't jog. We live in the city. We used it once while camping. A couple times in the local park. But other than that....Kinda a PITA. Totally not worth the $350. It's also awkward and big. It's a Phil and Teds but the BOB is even bigger. Unless you jog or are really rugged, resist the stroller Olympics.
4. Carriers: Borrow them. Don't buy. Or find used for cheap. We borrowed a few and good thing, no one in the family likes using them!

1. I have a tilted uterus, so I didn't feel her until 20ish weeks. After a couple of weeks of a foot in your ribcage, you'll wonder why you ever wanted to feel him/her in the first place.
2. You're gonna get baby things, just accept it.
3. um I'm not really a stroller expert.
4. I loved having a wrap for the newbie stage, and an ergo for the older stage so she could ride around on my back.

That's a factor? Nobody had mentioned that to me. I'm tilty too. Ok, I'll stop impatiently staring at my tummy.

1. Totally normal. I thought I could feel rolling around 14 weeks, but it's the kind of thing you could easily miss. I didn't feel real movement until more like 19/20wks.
2. You can't control people. If they want to buy baby stuff, they'll do it with or without a registry. Register before if you want a chance they'll buy something you might want in the future. Wait if you don't mind clothes.
3. We have a Citi Mini I love. It handles well and is super easy to fold up; relatively compact.
4. We have a Moby and an Ergo and a hammidown crotch dangler; I think the Evenflo one. The Ergo is nice 'cause I don't worry about his hips, but some kids don't like that there's no option to face out. I've gotten a lot of use out of both. Haven't used the Moby in several months, but there were times during ML when he wouldn't sleep anywhere else.
1. I didn't feel DD until after 20 weeks because of an anterior placenta. I can't remember when I felt DS.
2. I'd wait if you want. But, people may still buy you baby things and it will probably be stuff you don't want/need.
3. I'm a stroller whore. For single strollers, I've owned. Snap-n-go: Loved it. So convenient for the first months. Chicco Cortina travel system: Hated it. PITA. Baby Jogger City Mini: Good stroller, super easy to fold. I bought it with DD and still use it with DS. Maclaren Quest: Nothing special, overpriced. Bob Utility: Fixed wheel was a PITA for my needs. Bob Revolution: : Love it. Well made, easy to maneuver.
I would suggest looking into a Mountain Buggy. It would be a nice compromise between a Bob and a more traditional stoller. For double strollers we have the Mountain Buggy Duet and the Bob Dualie. They are both really well made.
4. I didn't have any luck baby wearing with either of my kids. Neither of them cared for it. I tried the Moby. I'm short so it was hard for me to wrap. DD tolerated the Bjorn for a short while. It was very easy to use and all the "bad for the hips" stuff is bunk. I tried the Ergo with DD as well and returned it. I found it incredibly uncomfortable. With DS I tried the Beco Gemini which is similar to the Ergo. He loathed it and it hurt my back. I would wait until after your baby is born and go to a store where you can try them out and have someone help with the fit.

Movement: I think I was around 18 or 19 weeks before I KNEW that it was movement. And I was laying in bed on my back when it happened.
Registry: Good luck with that. LOL I think I started my registry (on-line at least) the week I found out I was pregnant (and changed it a million times, of course). And really, not many people used it. If you want to start on it soon, just lock it down as private until after Xmas. And know that people are just going to buy you whatever it is THEY want to buy you. LOL
Stroller: We had the Graco travel system. We live out in the country without a lot of sidewalks and whatnot, so we don't use a stroller often. I need to get an umbrella stroller because the travel system one is just too big anymore. Since DD is already two and we don't use one a whole lot, I'm thinking about getting a $50 Jeep stroller and being done with it. If I had unlimited funds, I'd probably go with a Maclaren or a City Mini.
Wraps: Sorry, I wasn't a baby-wearer. She would have probably suffocated in my boobs. LOL

1. I did not feel DS until 21/22 weeks. I had an anterior placenta.
2. I was due at the end of February and had my last Christmas that was all about me. lol
3. We went with the Chicco Travel System. I call it the beast but it is great for storage with a huge basket underneath.
4. We started with the Moby (easy for squishy new baby stage). My go to for quick trips was a ring sling, it was really fast to put on and get DS set up. Then went with a soft-structured carrier for longer periods of wearing (I liked the Beco more than the Ergo because I am short). You can check out stores like paxbaby.com that have trials for carriers.

I should add that I'm short and super short waisted with big boobs, and I didn't have a problem with the moby. I think it's something you have to check out for yourself.
1. I felt what I maybe hoped/thought was movement at 17 weeks, but I could barely tell. I didn't feel definitive movement until 19 or 20 weeks.
2. I registered at 15 weeks. People will give you baby stuff regardless if you've registered or not. Don't tell anybody the sex (if it's a girl) if you want to avoid receiving beautiful but basically useless, pretty dresses.
3. I love our BabyJogger City Mini. I also just got the BabyJogger Summit XC for working out, and it moves like an absolute dream.
4. I LURVE the Beco Gemini. Hands down most useful piece of baby equipment we own. I started wearing her in it at 1 week old without an insert (the Moby was a pain in the ass, I thought) and still wear her in it every day at 7.5 mos. H wears her in it facing out to take her to daycare, since he's a bigger dude and it's more comfortable for both of them that way. It's also pretty easy to put on alone (the straps criss cross over your back if you're wearing baby in the front.

Also, the citi mini (and most others IIRC) has an attachment for infant car seats. It's not a whole lot cheaper than a snap n go, but it's less clutter. We're still using it.
1. I don't think I felt P until about 16-17 weeks.
2. I had all my baby items that I knew I wanted saved in an Amazon Wishlist that I transferred to a registry when the shower invites went out. I also registered for items at BRU. I received a total of 4 items from either registry. Pretty much everyone bought me clothes.
3. I bought a City Mini. But if I could do it over, I would have just bought a Snap-And-Go for the carseat. Then after a few months of use you can decide what features you've used, what you wish you had, and how you actually use the stroller. From there, then decide on what stroller you'd like. A few of my friends in my mom's group did this and I really wish I had, too.
4. I like the structured carriers, and so does P. I started with the Ergo, but he preferred to look out, so I bought the Beco Gemini. It has much more padding, is more versatile and just more comfortable in general. I also have a wrap that works great - I use it around the house and used it a ton when he was little. It's stretchy and versatile, and can be used up to 30 lbs. Plus there's tons of videos on YouTube to learn how to tie it different ways.
I save these up and them spit them out all at once.
1. totally fine. I didn't feel henry until 20 weeks on the nose. THis time I felt the baby 16-17 weeks. Partly because Im a second timer but really? this kid is WAY more active in utero anyhow than henry ever was. Evidenced during the big u/s as well. I think up to 22 weeks is totally normal so you are totally fine still. Hope it comes soon just because it is the BEST part of pg
2. Depends when your shower is really. I ASKED for baby gear for xmas, can you ask for not baby things?
3. I won't be much help. We have a BOB and a BJCS. The BOB gets heavy use though. I don't think it is that cumbersome at all but it is all Im used to...
4. depends on what you and baby like really. Many people HATE the bjorn front facing but my kid just loved it. I use an ergo occasionally now. I also own: moby, ring sling, regular sling. Never got the hang of any really. I plan on asking friends for moby lessons this time because I I hear they are awesome for newborns, and with 2u2 Im gonna need my hands free

1. I'm about a week behind you and think I've started to maybe feel things a little. And this is my third pregnancy so I *should* be feeling things slightly earlier. I was close to 20 weeks with the older two
2. I would make the registry on the early side since whoever is planning your shower is scheduling around the holidays and may do it earlier than standard because of that. Hopefully people recognize that you should be celebrated for being you at Christmas and being pregnant doesn't mean everything is just baby!
3. If your husband is getting a Bob so you'll have that for running, parks, fairs or other times you're not on a smooth surface you don't need another "good" stroller. I would highly recommend a snap n go stroller frame if you're doing an infant seat. By the time you stop using the infant seat you can see how much you use the stroller and decide how much you want to spend on another. I would probably do a snap n go followed by either a chicco or maclaren umbrella. We have: a peg perego aria which I like, but city life was hard on it and it was worn out quickly A Phil and Ted's classic with jump seat, which was my life line living in NYC. We walked everywhere and my neighbor and I would frequently walk 5-7 miles a day. I had to replace the tires last winter because the tread was worn down. A cheapie umbrella stroller, great for quick trips but a pain since there's no basket to store diaper bag and stuff and too short for DH (6'1") to push comfortably.
4. I've had a few different carriers, a regular (not ring) sling, a snugli (like a bjorn but cheap) and a moby. The moby was my favorite by far and DD2 lived in that for several months. My only complaint is that once DD was about 20 lbs (4-5 months, but she was huge) the fabric got too stretchy and we had to stop using it. I lost my sling and lent out my moby and never got it back, so I'm looking again to see what I want this time. I think since we're not in the city anymore I may want something less fussy to deal with than the moby.
1. I think it's normal to not feel your first until much later. I also think it's normal to finally feel your kid move and realize you've been feeling it for a while now and didn't know. It's then normal to forget this happened and eventually, you tell people you felt the kid earlier.
2. People are gonna buy you baby shit anyway. You may as well make the registry so you have some hope of getting the shit you need/want and not random crap you don't care about.
3. I have some inexpensive, very few features Jeep stroller I was given as a baby shower gift. I love that thing though there isn't much special about it. It folds easy and I can actually drop it down and flip it up into the back of the car while holding the baby.
1. Totally normal. I think I felt the first around 16 weeks, but I wasn't very gassy.
2. I would make the registry after Christmas.
3. We had a Quinny Zapp that we loved. They just came out with an upgrade - the Zapp Xtra! The seat can face toward you or away from you (and reclines fully flat - a lot of lightweight strollers don't do that), you can use a car seat with it if you want, and it folds up really small. I've seen them for as low as $199. I used my Zapp up until a few weeks ago. It's great for travel and for public transit. I LOVE it. I might get the new Xtra for this next baby. I would also consider the City Mini if you want something really easy to fold.
4. I love my Ergo. LOVE. But I didn't really use it during the baby stage. The insert is too bulky with my giant boobs and it gets really hot. I might get a Baby K'Tan for this next one. It's more like a sling but has a few different options for carrying and it has a lightweight summer material option.
I still use pudding's moby and he's almost 8 months old. I love it so and it really feels no heavier than when he lays on me around the house. It was a bitch to learn to tie so power through because the pay off is worth it. I think the key to Moby success is to use it nice and early, like within the first few weeks. Everyone I know who loves it stuck a kid in it in that time frame. Everyone I know of who didn't get much use out of it, didn't start until the baby was 3 months or older.
1. I felt flutters at 18 weeks, but no consistent movement til 20ish, it felt creepy, I won't lie.
2. I wouldn't wait that long to register, but I'm type A and had a registry started before I was pregnant. I was on bedrest by 33 weeks and fortunately all my showers were over by then and I'd done my registry completion the day before I went on bedrest.
3. City Mini and Britax B-Agile are almost the same design, super lightweight and easy to fold up with the pull of a handle.
4. I'm using a K'tan Breeze right now, like the Moby but no wrapping required. Have a Ergo for when she gets bigger. Don't get a Bjorn or other "crotch dangling" style, they are bad for baby hips.
