I hate red-eye flights. I always feel queasy. But, it will be very nice to get home and see the dog. I never realized how much I'd miss her when I travel.

I am binge-watching old episodes of Adam Ruins Everything on Netflix. I can't believe it took me a few years to discover this show. It's cheesy but funny and very CEP.
ETA: Although on "Adam Ruins The Internet," the ending where he talks about how great the internet can be was so sad because the episode was filmed pre-Trump and talked about how Net Neutrality laws help keep the internet fair and accessible so don't fret about internet conglomerates being jerks.
I'm feeling down today. I saw a school friend's insta post this morning where she is celebrating her 40th at Macchu Pichu. That had been my plan for many years - to go to Peru with my best friend this year to celebrate my 40th. It was a trip DH wouldn't have wanted to do so even after he died, that dream remained. Due to life being a bitch, I am going to have significant medical expenses as MS isn't covered by my insurance so I'm having to write off that dream. I just felt like this was one dream that I had that was just for me and my enjoyment, not thinking of anyone else's needs, and now it's gone. It was a real kick to wake up to today.
I'm really sorry jamaicam , life is not fucking fair
ETA- Are the medical expenses b/c of medication? If so, have you gone to the manufacturer for help with payments? It is possible.
My work insurance is really bad - I get about $800 per year for me and my kids to cover all drugs, dental and optical. So thats a joke. It is of some use with other costs (like seeing the neurologist and getting the scans) - not great but I can manage those.
I don't actually know how much the meds will be as there are no specialists in Jamaica. So I've been referred to a specialist in Florida and will be going there at the end of this month to sort out the meds. I've been told they are about $1,000 per month as a ball park figure. I'm hoping to be able to get some help, but as a non-US citizen, not all the schemes are open to me. But once I've had that appointment, I can start to figure it out properly.
jamaicam Ugh, insurance and medical care is all so expensive. I have found that when dealing with something chronic having a specialist that you like on your side really helps.
I have been doing a lot of research about autoimmune diet (I have RA) but my rheumatologist of course puts no stock in that. You have to try and balance it all out. If you ever want to chat PM me
jamaicam I would donate to your vacation fund if you have one. You of all people deserve a kick-ass birthday celebration. I’m also knocking on the door of 40 so I get that too.

jamaicam I’m so sorry. Life has thrown too much at you! My husband has a condition similar to MS (in fact it used to be considered a variant of MS) and the unknown aspect is so difficult. He is following the swank diet, which was apparently created for MS patients to reduce the frequency of attacks, on the off chance it may help.
I am NOT eating enough food before my runs. And, holy hell, does it show in my pace. Ugh. I really need to find a better balance.
I did a three-day fasting two years ago as a food reset. It was the worst idea ever as I attempted to run and nearly passed out. All that to say, I empathize with trying to find a balance between calorie-counting and fueling for workouts.

Yeah, I'm doing a 1200 cal "reset" for the last 3 days because holidays. Which, fine. You know. But I'd only eaten about 200 calories before I was like "Let's go for a run!" *diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiies*
I've been considering one of those exercise ball chairs for work but I have no idea who it would work out. Does anyone here use one?
My lower back has been really bothering me again lately. It's probably because I have started using the treadmill at the gym after being pretty sedentary while in grad school. It's this shitty cycle where losing weight will help the pain but exercising to lose weight exacerbates the pain. I really need to be better about stretching regularly, not just after exercise, but it's difficult to do at home because the dog wants to "help."
Pottermore tweet: Hogwarts didn't always have bathrooms. Before adopting Muggle plumbing methods in the eighteenth century, witches and wizards simply relieved themselves wherever they stood, and vanished the evidence. #NationalTriviaDay
