This show is amazing!! I absolutely loved it, especially the fact that they had so much LGBT representation that was done in a very thoughtful way, or wasn’t even central to the plot at all but was just portrayed as totally normal. That remains somewhat unusual on TV even for brand new shows so kudos to them.
There are @ triggers of several sorts, if anyone wants to know what they are feel free to message me. They didn’t bother me a lot but could be upsetting for someone else.
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
I loved that even the smaller characters had development - the bully, the queen bee, the weird girl.
While watching it my husband kept asking when it was set. And I kept saying modern day, but then got curious and read an article. Supposedly it was created to be mostly modern day but slightly ambiguous, a little nostalgic. You see it in the cars which look 1970's, the fact that there are cell phones, but also an unusual number of land lines, the clothes. That ambiguity also fed into it's location. Yes it's set in a small town in England, but they made choices to make it feel slightly more american - the letterman jackets, the lockers in the hallways, the name of the school. I thought all of that was interesting.
I had a few crushy moments with Otis, but the actor is 21 so I don't feel too bad, and that was totally my type when I was in school.

I really appreciated this aspect of it. It was modern with cell phones and texting, but the feel of it felt older to me, due to their clothes and cars. I kept thinking that the some of Eric's clothes looked like they might have been second hand or from a vintage shop, but then the popular kids had a similar feel, which made the whole thing feel more nostalgic. I think that really helped me focus more on character development by their actions, rather than being able to use their apparel and vehicles as symbols of their status and wealth. I know Aimee was rich and Maeve was poor, but other than that, it was really hard to discern the socio-economic status of the rest of the characters.
Overall, I really enjoyed it, even though I was unprepared for some of the nudity.
Just finished this last night and loved it. So many layers and heartwarming, shocking, sad, humorous moments. I loved the diversity of the characters. Any word on another season?
I absolutely loved it. We binged it in 2 nights. Some of it was so painful, but other parts were incredibly sweet and funny. I typically don't expect to describe such a sexually explicit show as "sweet" but that's exactly how I felt about the boys' friendship.

I absolutely LOVED it and what was even better was suddenly recognizing the tiny village where I grew up is in it. I was like, wait! I recognize that place!
Some of it was hard to watch and I was surprised how emotional I found a couple of the episodes. I was so sad when we finished it and can’t wait for the new season!

There’s no audio or transcript posted yet, but I heard this on NPR tonight. The show has an Intimacy Coordinator to manage actor interactions. Think fight scene choreography but for sex scenes with awareness of consent and boundaries.
I ended up watching the last 3 episodes of the season, since my H started watching without me. I liked what I saw, but I was able to infer a whole lot from those 3 episodes, and I'm not sure I want to watch from the beginning.
I had to resurrect this since I am watching it now. I am enjoying it and a lot of the story lines. However, does anyone feel a bit bothered by the graphic sex scenes with what are supposed to be teenagers. I don’t know. I watched the scene where the girl is learning to masturbate and then the scene where lily and Otis attempt sex and I am feeling icky. Like these are supposed to be kids. 😳 (and yes I know teens do these things. I just feel a little voyeuristic and creepy watching)!

Did you not do any of that at their age? I did and since no one talked about it, I felt like a complete abnormal weirdo. The first time I had sex was so awkward. I would have loved to have had something like this when I was younger.
