Did you see this on Rachel Maddow last night? Apparently a lot of the crazy stuff Trump is claiming at the southern border (women bound in tape, super fast cars, prayer rugs found) are all scenes from the movie Sicario. It's a fictional movie which he apparently thinks is a documentary.
I understand that my Twitter feed is biased, but Schultz is getting dumped on there this morning.
Among many good points, Kevin Kruse pointing out his hypocrisy:
I heard that interview this morning and thought the same thing as Kruse. When Shultz made that comment I started YELLING at the radio like, "you fucking hypocrite!"
There’s a lot of good takes on Schultz right now. It’s crazy that one billionaire can completely hold the country hostage if he doesn’t like a party’s nominee. Schultz is making the case for the immorality of the 1% better than a Democratic candidate ever could. He is literally doing this to keep the status quo and avoid higher taxes for himself.
In related news, there’s an amazing video from Davos going around - a historian on a panel basically told the rich to fuck their philanthropy, if they want to change the world they need to pay taxes. I have never been so all-in on that messaging. Tax the wealthy and eliminate tax havens. Boom.
ETA: Him and Winnie Byanyima, who runs Oxfam International, basically pummeled the CFO of Yahoo who asked the most asinine question about how he can help inequality WITHOUT PAYING TAXES (because God no, no taxes!) and it was glorious.
A new American intelligence assessment of global threats has concluded that North Korea is “unlikely to give up” all of its nuclear stockpiles, and that Iran is not “currently undertaking the key nuclear weapons-development activity” needed to make a bomb, directly contradicting two top tenets of President Trump’s foreign policy.
Schultz’s whole MO is going to be to go after progressive policy proposals more than anything Trump is doing but, to be fair, he’s going to be dragged at every Democratic debate without being able to answer in the moment. He also doesn’t seem to be very good at this.
He was interviewed on NPR and the reporter asked him which tax philosophy is right for decreasing the deficit: taxing the rich or lowering taxes on the rich. Of course, he refused to give an answer and kept hedging when pressed. He is so clearly doing this for his own benefit. What utter scum.

From AP:
Update: Donald Trump's longtime friend and confidant Roger Stone has made an uncharacteristically silent exit from his court hearing. Stone left the federal courthouse in Washington on Tuesday without speaking publicly after entering a not guilty plea to charges filed in the special counsel's Russia investigation.
Stone raised his hands to make victory signs and smiled as he hopped into a black SUV amid a swarm of protesters and supporters.
So when a billionaire tells you that you need to pay a way larger % in taxes than he does, you might want to ask yourself why the fuck you'd vote for that.
Critical thinking needs to become the new Pumpkin Spice Latte that everyone needs.
I went out of my way to get coffee elsewhere this am.
Honestly impressed by Howard Schultz. Do you know how much effort it takes to be this hated when you’re the guy who provides people with their daily coffee
