I am probably going to be in LA in March for the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend live finale (haven’t confirmed I have a ticket to the event, but I’m pretty confident). Anyways, would you guess renting a car or ubering everywhere is more economical? What about in terms of convenience? I will be flying into LAX, staying at a hotel downtown, and going to a theater about 0.5 mile from my hotel. I also plan to go out to West Covina so I can be super nerdy and fangirly. Relevant information: I really don’t like driving in big cities, but I can do it if I have to.
Also, I don't have to make a decision until after 2/19, when I find out about the ticket. I booked a hotel because it's refundable, but I'm waiting on flight and car.
You can always do both? When I went to Dallas a couple of years ago, I drove some but also took an Uber at night because navigating the neighborhoods in the dark, finding parking in a popular nightlife area, etc. was too stressful.
I would rent a car just for the one day you're going to West Covina - mainly so you can easily stop by Portos while you're there and eat all the potato balls.
I would just rent a car for the West Covina. You might be able to get one delivered to your hotel or have the agency come pick you up to go to the rental office (for free!) I’ve done both.
If you are staying downtown, there is a train called Metrolink that would get you close enough to Covina for a reasonable Uber. It's pretty easy to navigate.

Walk to the event.
That would be really convenient! I'll look into that.
