Is there anything a City Mini GT wouldn't do, especially compared to a BOB? Except be an actual jogger because LOFL for days at that notion. I need something that can go on gravel, dirt, grass and asphalt. Country life, lol

Hmm we have a double city mini GT & a single bob. No way would I take the city mini on the unpaved trails behind our neighborhood. It does pretty well overall but other then lawn or a bit of gravel itโs best on pavement. We are in the Seattle area and had 9 inches of snow on Monday- I took the single bob out and it did great- even with a 40lb toddler sitting in the foot area. (So my 20 month old in the seat and my almost 4 year old plopped in the foot area)

Our two girls are 20 months apart, now 4 and 2.5. We bought a City Select when I was pregnant with dd2. We do a lot of activities like the zoo, festivals, amusement parks, etc so it got a lot of usage that way. For a time it seemed I stopped using it because dd1 stopped wanting to ride in a seat and dd2 can get out of ANY strap. However, we bought the glide board for dd1 this past year and she loooves that option. We face the front seat towards the back so she can sit on the board if she wants and stick her feet over into the cargo space.
Now that baby 3 is on the way, lol, yeah Iโm super glad we splurged on this one. Iโm going to have the bassinet, dd2 in a seat, and dd1 on the board. There arenโt many triple stroller options that are this flexible! Just a point to consider if you plan (or donโt plan like us, whoops!) to go for a third.
Double strollers are annoying because I feel like they get used rarely, but whenย you do need one you REALLY need one, ya know?
Most of the time having twins v a singleton on MMM doesnโt make a difference, but this one I legit had to pause on. We use a double stroller 2x ever day just for daycare drop off and pick up. ๐คฃ
FWIW we have the vista and love it and it would work even better in your situation I think with 2 different sized kids. But I wouldnโt buy one new for what you described. We also like our double bob a lot but it is a beast to take anywhere - we just use it around our neighborhood. Our favorite light weight is the Zoe, but I donโt think it works with car seats.
My boys are 21 months apart and now 4 years old (in Dec) and almost 2.5 years old. I LOVE my BOB double stroller (and my BOB single)!! I used it all.the.time (at least daily). Even my 4yo still loves the stroller. It has been money well spent...we walk to the grocery store, preschool, run, go to the zoo, Disneyland, walk to get coffee, parks, etc.
We used a double stroller when DS1 was little (19 months younger than DD). We got rid of it before having DS2 and have never missed it (DS2 is 33 months younger than DS1). We live in the 'burbs, go for walks semi-regularly, etc. DS2 at age 3.5 can walk (or hike!) 2 miles and I don't remember the last time he was in a stroller, it was a long time ago. But there's no one right answer, it depends on your family and potential uses.
I agree with pp that is really depends on you, your budget, your kids and factors your canโt anticipate now as your kids get older. I have 3 kids and when the older two were younger (they are 15 months apart but 5.5 and 4 now) I wanted them both to nap in the stroller so a double made sense. When they got a little bigger I wanted to actually go running with both of them so we got a used double Bob. Once dd was about 3.5 I went back to a single with the board attachment because I didnโt need her to nap in the stroller but I needed sometimes to get somewhere faster and/or give her a little break. Ds2 is 4 yrs younger than ds1 so we still occasionally use the skateboard to get somewhere faster or give him a break but it is rare (both bigger kids use scooters now). Since your older kid is still 3 I think you have a good 1-1.5yrs that he might need a break from walking but if you rarely use a stroller now the board attachment might be enough?
sent I donโt know why the boards arenโt more frequent in the US, where we live they are on every stroller, no one has doubles here (Paris) kids from like 18mo start riding on them. Babyzen yoyo and bugaboo are super popular here and the boards attachments have little seats too. I got a little frustrated w dd using one around 2yrs old because she is short and would chew on the handle of the stroller haha
My DD was a bit over 2.5 when DS was born. We bought a used double city mini, which was great. We used it almost exclusively for walks around the neighborhood (we frequently walk a 3 mile loop through our neighborhood greenspace). It worked great for us. We did not buy an infant adapter for it. Before he could be in it, I wore him and fit outings/errands, I had an old snap an go. The city mini folds down pretty flat, so we were able to use it without a car seat pretty early anyway.

Obviously the BOB does better on offroading, but from my experience with the single the City Mini GT is a really good substitute. We haven't really had issues on any surface. I don't run with a stroller so I can't imagine lifting the BOB in and out of a car and stuff, but I do know people love them.

This is my hesitation with just getting a ride on board for older DS. If we do a long day somewhere and want to try to get him to nap or rest in the stroller it makes more sense to have a double.
icedcoffee 3 is still so young, even at 4 and a bit my ds1 falls asleep in the bob or standing on the board attachment slumped over the bassinet for ds2. Hopefully you find find a double in the right budget!

I agree. I think I'm leaning toward finding a used City Mini GT double in good condition. I'm not going to worry about getting infant seat attachments. Realistically I think that will be used rarely anyway and I can just lean the seat back to recline. I can use my City mini single or snap n go in situations where I really need to just transfer the infant bucket seat.

The Bob is so damn big, I don't even really take the single anywhere! It has gone to campgrounds but otherwise I take the umbrella if I need something in town.
I'm mostly just annoyed we have no baby stores in the entire state of Oregon at this point where I can actually go look at them.

That is super annoying. Luckily we still have a BuyBuy Baby close by.
icedcoffee I got this for ds1 when he was itty bitty and didnโt want him sliding and slouching in our double or the single Bob which doesnโt lay entirely flat (sorry canโt keep track of the thread if you have a single Bob), I still use it for ds2 who is 6 mo now. There are lots of pics in the amazon reviews of this set up in Cityminiโs and Bobs
We were still using our double Bob even last summer when my daughter turned 6 and my son was 3. If we were just going for a walk, the kids would walk or ride their bikes, but when we were going to the food truck/live music evening once a week, we would use it so we could walk a lot faster. It was also a lot easier to get tired kids home afterward. We also still sometimes bring it to the zoo. You may be using it longer than you would think.
I'm no help because although my kids are 3 years, 2 months apart we never bought or used a double. I think your need for one depends on a lot of things. Does you current 3 year old use the stroller much? Will you wear your infant, negating the need for a double until the older one is even older? Do you do a lot of daily walking? A lot of trips to zoos and places with a lot of walking? The answers for me were no (older kid hardly used the stroller), yes (on babywearing although the infant got heavy fast) and no to daily or trip walking. So, we didn't buy/borrow/rent one and never missed it. I can't even think of a time when we used two single strollers, although that's certainly an option for the 2-3 times we may have needed to.
I searched to see what used CMGTs are going for around me, and there are none on my city's Craig's List. A neighboring area CL (2 hrs away) had one. It was red, appeared to be in good condition, and was $360 without accessories or $425 with. Ugh. I'm not going to spring right now, but that $405 gray one on Albee Baby is looking pretty good.

Yeah--I'm seeing similar results near me. There is one that's $200 that looks nice, but it's a bit of schlep to get there.

I should add that the live music evening is about a 15 minute walk at a brisk, adult speed from our house, hence the stroller. If we were just parking there, we likely wouldn't be bringing the stroller...

I found some double CMs and CMGTs for $150-250, but I have to drive 4 hours away. I do have some friends in the area that would totally pick them up for me though... I would just need to get H on board.
Sometimes, being isolated in west Texas sucks. It's a 4+ hour drive to pretty much anything.
DD and DS are 2 years apart and we got a lot of use of our Uppababy Vista double, I love it, it fits everywhere and os easy to maneuver even with 2 kids on it.
DS and #3 will be 1y9m apart so Iโm happy I still have the double.
We also have an Uppababy G-Link, which I hink would be a good option for kids more spaced apart, like yours. Itโs great for travel, the zoo, etc.

I might drive/send a friend for a $150-200 CMGT double too... but $360 is only a $45 savings over new + free shipping. Meh.
Just curious, does anyone know if there tend to be decent Black Friday sales on CMGTs? DS will be 6 months around then, so I'm thinking I can probably wait that long to buy if I might hit a good sale that way.

IME, there are good sales on CMGT when the next model year comes out. I got my single CMGT for $209.99 in July of 2016 which was a great price and it was because the new model was out (I can't remember if I bought a 2015 or 2016). That price on AlbeeBaby for $405.99 seems pretty good (although yesterday they had black for $379 and now I'm not seeing it grrrr).

I lift mine in and out of my Subaru Forrester all the time. Itโs really not that bad.
Blahhhh okay I got the go ahead from DH for a double. Now I can't decide. For what it's worth, DS1 (henceforth known as E1) is 3y7m and little brother E2 is due in a month. E1 hasn't ridden in a stroller in over a year at least, but I can totally see him getting jealous of little brother and deciding he wants to ride again.
I can get a Chicco Bravo for 2 (a sit n stand) for $175 locally at my Once Upon A Child (assuming it's still there, which it was last week). Pros: accepts my car seat seamlessly, allows E to hop on and off, small footprint. Cons: Limited space for him when the car seat is in there. The seat in front does not recline far.
Or I can see if this one is available and have a family member bring it up when they come to visit after baby is born. houston.craigslist.org/bab/d/houston-city-mini-double-stroller/6794794163.html Pros: all the great benefits of the CM double strollers; these things are popular for a reason. if E1 ends up wanting to ride again, I can see us using this for a long time. if he doesn't, I can probably get my money back. Cons: bigger, slightly more expensive, asks family to collect/pay/transport the stroller.
pooh8402 Defi the Chicco , esp if your infant car seat is a Chicco and E1 hasnโt been using a stroller then the board and small sit will be enough to transport him or give him a rest. I still think a proper double makes more sense when both kids need to nap in the stroller.
pooh8402, I think I'd go with the CM. I just think you'll get more use out of the CM and also I don't know how "hardy" Chicco strollers are. I think having 2 seats will be nicer if both kids want to nap.
Although that listing is for the regular CM and a few people here have said they wouldn't get the regular one (I have the GT and love it).
