I didn't want to start the weekend thread but what the heck. This is a good start to Weekend News. While Trump's narcissism knows no bounds and he willfully ignores how he's viewed, Pence is quite aware of how HE wants to be viewed. And he hitched his wagon to this train with his own greed and ambition.
Vice President Mike Pence was met with silence on Friday when he mentioned President Trump at a security conference in Munich.
"I bring greetings from the 45th president of the United States of America, Donald Trump," Pence said, before being met with a lengthy silence.
Pence traveled to Germany this week for the annual Munich Security Conference along with a bipartisan delegation, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.).
The vice president spoke at an award ceremony on Friday for the first recipients of a scholarship commemorating the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who attended the conference numerous times.
Don’t mind me, I’m just over here being pissed off about Bernie Sanders.
I would like the Democrats to say no to him. Sorry, you have proven that you are NOT a Democrat considering you weren't before you first run and then you weren't after your first run. Run as the Independent that you consider yourself.

I totally agree in theory, although him actually running as an independent would really muck things up in the general so I’m glad he at least has the good sense not to do that (small blessings.)
I actually anticipate he won’t do that well in the primary but we will see I guess.

True. I hope that people actually use their brains and see that there are actual progressive people running who GET THINGS DONE.

Ohhh WOT?* thanks for the snicker of delight ❤️ because I, of course, had to look into things so I could get some video of that awkward A-hole (Skip first 9 secs if you don’t want to take anymore than possible):

Is now a good time to hope that Sherrod decides to toss his hat in so that Bernie people see that there are other white guy Progressives out there? Ones who are ACTUALLY feminists and progressive? And who can appeal to others? Even if his victory would mean very losing a blue seat in the Senate? Because Sherrod’s a better progressive than Bernie ever has been. And he’s just as rumpled but less shouty and more across-the-lines appealing and trustworthy.

Heather Nauert withdraws as Donald Trump’s nominee for US ambassador to the UN.
Nauert’s nomination began to falter after the White House was alerted to a problem in her background check: Nauert had in the past employed an immigrant nanny who was in the U.S. legally but wasn’t authorized to work.
To great applause, #Merkel says it "comes as a bit of a shock" to her that German cars may be named by @realdonaldtrump as a threat to American national security (like European steel). She points out South Carolina is the world's largest BMW factory, "not Bavaria!" #MSC2019

I wish people would stop saying they are shocked by anything Trump does.
How about reports that PM Abe of Japan nominated Trump for a Nobel Prize, and his claims it was done because Trump admin asked him to. 🙄
YES! 😳🙄😳 Japan's PM nominated Trump for Nobel Peace Prize on U.S. request: Asahi www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-usa-trump-japan-idUSKCN1Q6041 (Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize last autumn after receiving a request from the U.S. government to do so, the Asahi newspaper reported on Sunday.
From the Portland Press Herald: Former Gov. Paul LePage and his staff members paid for more than 40 rooms at Washington, D.C.’s Trump International Hotel during a two-year period, spending at least $22,000 in Maine taxpayer money at a business owned by the president’s family.
IS ANYONE GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT ALL THIS BULLSHITE?!? (rhetorical)
I was just at a flea market/antique show thing and some guy asked my mom, aunt and I if we are FL voters, he then asked if we would sign a petition for only allowing US citizens to vote in our elections.
I called him out on his bullshit and he told me I need to do some research. I told him he needs to turn off FOX news and stop listening to the bullshit.

I’m pretty sure that “a bit of a shock” is Angela Merkel for “Can you believe this fucking idiot?”
Our far right wing of the Tories are trying their hardest to make a hard Brexit happen. Amazing how all of them either have money/investments/companies/citizenships outside the UK.
There will be a huge rally/march planned around the UK hosted by Remainers who want a vote on all of this. (Of course it's the weekend where we're going away or I'd totally be there).
