Your stories make me never want to be part of the PTA.
Truth. I was thinking about applying for the School Advisory Committee (we have a SAC for long term planning and a PTA for fundraising/events) but now I am having second thoughts.

I have a TWERK. Our dog passed away at the beginning of December, y’all may remember. I was all “we are going to wait a while to get a dog.”
Well .... I’m putting a deposit on a pup this AM. Boy or girl? Our previous dog was the same breed but came from a rescue and so we didn’t have a sex choice. We loved her so much we wanted another but they’ve exploded in popularity this last ten+ years and now the rescue waiting list is well over a year long so we are going with a reputable local breeder. They’re all so wonderful that I cannot decide.
H wants both. No. I hope to adopt a young adult dog of the same or similarly sized breed eventually but I cannot do two puppies.
xctsclrx, Last year our PTA was super chill when I went to meetings and helped with a couple events, which is why I got suckered into being on the board. Now that I'm on the board, I see the insanity behind the scenes and all the drama and I'm over it.
librarychica (for some reason I can't tag you) - I had a male and female dog growing up and the male was much more affectionate. I've heard that before about male vs female. We've had two females as adults though.
twinmomma, let go of that guilt! There is a reason they can't find parents - no one has time for the drama.
Well we may have a conclusion to the dog saga. Barking started again at 3 am. I txted my neighbor at 4 with a copy of the animal control laws. He txted back that he couldn't put the one dog up last night because his other dog died, and was in the garage. This particular dog stands on our property line and barks at us in the back yard, so last night we had a fire pit and we would periodically scream shut up. It was going crazy because my son and Dh were target practicing. So while I am sad for their kids, I really did not care for that dog and they would just leave her tied and barking to a dog house right next to our line.
I then notice two other dogs in my yard getting ready for work. So at 6 am I am chasing 2 dogs down the road on foot half dressed for work with socks and flip flops on. I obviously lose them. I put on FaceBook, does anyone know who owns these dogs and they are barking all hours of the night. I get 2 quick messages apologizing and saying they will keep them up.
So it may not have been the neighbors dog. We did catch him in the act, but he could have been joining in the other two. Hopefully this is the end of it and I get more that 4 hours sleep, because that is what I have been running on for 2 weeks.
Why can't people be responsible with their pets? My dog doesn't leave the property and has been trained not to bark (except for the trash guy, for some reason, she really hates him).
librarychica - I am team get both. On the first day of school we adopted our sisters, and it has been the BEST experience. Training two has been easier than one - 1) they help lead each other. One was slow to understand pottying in the side yard and the other was on it. The slower to catch on dog followed the smart one. 2) they play - a tired puppy is a good puppy. I don’t have time for three hours of puppy play a day - and them entertaining each other has curbed naughty behaviors like chewing 3) they are SO cute together. I can’t overstate how awesome this is.
Sent an email to DD's principle regarding a TAG update. They are having her assessed by the district psych and feel like she will be marked as a TAG student. Principle doesn't know what the assessments will be like or when they will happen. I find this odd so will just have to ask DD if anyone odd talks to her.
librarychica, team girl here too. For the exact same reason supertrooper1, says. My brother has a male dog and he is a crotch dog and marks when he wants to but squats at other times. Drives me crazy.
