Good morning ladies. I couldn’t sleep (again) so got up to work out at 4:30. I’m sure I will be exhausted this afternoon, but right now I feel pretty good. I’m drinking my coffee while everyone else sleeps and will shower shortly.
H is bringing our car in to be serviced today and I’m afraid it will be $$$. I feel like lately all we do is spend money. The plumber is coming tomorrow to look at our hot water heater that is leaking, and we need to replace our A/C. Ugh. I love our home, but sometimes I wish we could go back to renting a small apartment.
I was up before 5am today because I wanted to get in to the office early. Normally I'm here by 7 but today I got in at 6. I'm always amazed that people are up and functioning at this ungodly hour on a normal basis LOL It only took me 35 minutes to drive in this morning, by contrast, it took me 1hr and 20min to drive home yesterday. Same exact commute. Around here, as little as a 15 minute difference in departure time can completely change the amount of time it takes to commute. Like I said, I normally leave the house at 6 and am here by 7, but if I don't leave until 6:15, I don't get here until 7:30. It's stupid.
DS (8) woke me up at 2am just because he couldn’t sleep. No nightmare, no sickness. When is it okay to tell your kid they are being a jerk for waking you up, lol?
I have to go to an on-site meeting about an hour away today and I don’t want to one bit. The people we are meeting with are a pain and not worth me getting out my typical WFH attire.

yesterday! I'd shut that sh!t down lol. I really value my sleep though. GL!

I’m sitting on a plane getting ready to head home from a work trip. We stayed at a hotel 90 minutes from the airport, and we were staying in mountain time but flying out of central, so we left the airport at 2:30 am this morning. 2:30 AM. I am going to be dragging this afternoon.

Ouch! I hope you can sleep on the plane or have time for a nap when you land! Safe travels!
I had a dreadful day yesterday—discovered my irreplaceable Easter decorations were ruined, our vet is being very odd and condescending when I asked about why our dog’s medication cost doubled despite being a lower dose and is trying to make it difficult to get it filled outside the pharmacy they push us to use, some people in the professional group I’m a member of were really strange/snotty to me when I asked a question about looking for new representation, a coke exploded in my freezer, the concert we were going to on Thursday (that was rescheduled from the winter) dropped the main act and it took an hour with customer service to get them agree to and issue a return because it was past the return date when they made the announcement.
Then I couldn’t sleep until after 2, my husband was on back up at work and got a call and had to work from home at like 5 am and he was so loud!
Now I’m waiting for the roofer to arrive because our roof is leaking. My barky dog is not going to like this. Maybe it will be quieter than I think? I don’t want to leave the dogs here alone with the roofer freaking out but our dachshund isn’t supposed to go on walks (she had back surgery years ago) and I can’t carry her and walk the other one at the same time. I also don’t want to sit here and listen to barking for hours. The roofer said he’d come on Saturday but then he rescheduled for today when my husband can’t be here. The plan was for me to take Miss Barky somewhere if needed while he was home with the quieter dachshund.
My mom and I are at urgent care. I definitely have strep, not sure on mom. We were going to do the aquarium today, but that’s not happening.
E has her ENT appt Thursday, so now I’m guessing surgery is a definite. Just not sure what recovery will be like and scheduling. Borrowing stress already.
Guess once we get out of here we’ll see what to do today. Maybe find an indoor play spot and do some shopping. The stores here are better than home.
Ever since DST my 5.5yo and 3.5yo are exhausted. Going to bed over an later and waking up at the same time has led to over tired kids 🤦🏻♀️ the blackout curtains I got at target don’t block much light so I’m hoping the ones from amazon do a better job and maybe a dark bedroom will help
tacokick, sorry you are having a bad week! I hope things go well today. That's nuts that they cancelled the main act on Thursday - they should just issue everyone refunds! We had thought about getting tickets and decided against it (since it starts so late) and I'm glad about that, I guess.
I went to yoga yesterday for the first time in a while, and I'm sore today. It was a good class, though, so hopefully I can keep going on Mondays. My work gives us a free membership to the gym on campus, so I didn't even have to pay. It's like 95%+ students there each time I've been, but it's a really nice gym and there are tons of classes. I'm hoping to get over there today to use the elliptical after work. I honestly really prefer working out BEFORE work, but it just hasn't been happening in the last few months and I don't us getting into the habit of waking up at 5:15am anytime soon, so maybe after work will have to do. What I really would love is to have a gym and/or gym equipment at our house, so maybe in a year or two when we move I'll have to make sure that happens.
notoriousmeg I feel you on the bleeding money. Home repairs and improvements, taxes, and car maintenance are not my idea of fun things to spend money on. Remember being a kid and thinking you'd get to spend all your money on fun stuff?
tacokick I'm sorry about your decorations. I would be really upset, too. I hope your week improves.
I'm happy all the birds are back. I'm ready for spring.
Oh, a question for the federal employees here - my H is applying for fed jobs. We have heard that you have to put basically exactly what is on the job description, word for word, on your resume. Is that accurate? What if the USA jobs site says something different than the actual agency job description? Which do you go with?
Also I assume a CV is ok when they ask for a resume? Or does he need to put together a resume too? He has a PhD and is applying for research jobs so I assume CV is actually preferable? All the posts ask for a resume so he's feeling unsure about that.
sitting here in my gym clothes and telling myself i will go today.
Today is busy. orange theory and then home to shower and then off to see k at her school during lunch, per her request. Then i need to grab lunch for myself before going to my mom's house to pay bills, set up auto pay and then my aunt, uncle and cousins are coming in to town. Busy, busy, busy.
wildrice I’m beyond over this week! Apparently our water might be shut off because someone hit a hydrant. Whyyy?
So annoying about the concert. My husband took off Thursday and Friday for it since it was so late and he’s on call next week. I guess he will just work now? Who cancels so late? I guess since there were two headliners they didn’t automatically refund people or cancel it?
I have been so cranky for about three days now. I'm ready to murder any and everyone who so much as looks at me. I went for a 4 mile walk last night thinking it would help but all it did was give me time to really dwell on stupid shit and make me even crankier.
I am so freaking tired lately. Getting plenty of sleep but it never feels like enough. Last week I had my first appointment with an endocrinologist to see if I could get better results/more answers than just having my PCP follow it. He did a whole slew of tests including checking my antibodies. Yeah... those came back SUPER high. The lab cites 0-60 IU/ML, mine is 1333 IU/ML. So I'm guessing that is why I feel like junk and am exhausted all the time? I'm waiting to hear from the doctor to hear what he says.

I got a huuuuge bill from the hospital for my ankle stuff. The bills we have received have been expensive and we did a budget and were able to set up a payment plan,(that will take forever it seems to pay the amount off) we thought we were doing good and then we get this bill and the amount crushed us. . I will be calling the insurance and hospital this afternoon to figure out what’s what. And see if we can modify our payment plan. We have lots of expenses coming in the next three months, I am finding it hard to decide what to prioritize first.
My little family and I will be moving to NOVA this summer. My H found us a rental house it’s nice and right by the school my ds will be attending. I am excited about this move. Trying not to stress out too much.
One of the screws that was used ito fix my ankle cost 153.00. Lol.

Yeah that's super crappy. Unless someone is sick or has a health reason to cancel, a last minute cancellation should not be possible. What a bummer! Especially after already being rescheduled.

I have a cold type thing: sore throat, lots of congestion, but I have decided that I'm not sick. I am willing myself better. So, I'm just going about my business as normal and trying to ignore the symptoms as much as possible (I work from home, I'm not contaminating anyone).
We have had some family drama the past couple days. I hate it. I hope we will all be able to get past it and move on.
We're under contract with our house! It was on the market less than a week before we had 2 offers which is impressive given I do not live in what I would call a "hot" market LOL. Both knew we had another offer so both went above asking which is really great.
But I'm stressing because now we have to find a place and there isn't a ton on the market yet in our price range, thankfully we did a 60 day occupancy which buys us some time (of course we start paying daily rent after closing). We've looked at a few and gone to some open houses so there are options just not a ton. One house is really pretty and wouldn't need anything done to it for a good while but it is at the very top of our budget and that makes me nervous.
This stuff is both exciting and nauseating!
I feel like it should be later in the week than Tuesday
Warming up a bit today so heading down to the beach to walk along the boardwalk.
I texted H to remind him to book the 7th of May off (DS’s first birthday). We discussed going to the zoo and getting ice cream. H responded asking “what’s on the 7th”. Eyeroll.

My h once called me while he was filling out dr paperwork for ds to ask what year he was born 🤣 Good thing you reminded your h!
My kids are killing me. I have a teenager, an 8 year old, and a toddler. Between the teen angst/attitude/homework/extracurriculars/40 minute commute with a toddler/terrible twos, I feel like I'm getting hit from all sides and I'm so. damn. exhausted. H and I both work full time in demanding jobs and am struggling to get a handle on it all. I feel like I'm not giving 100% to anything. I'm doing enough to get by and survive.
Hoping to have enough energy to do something this afternoon.
Strep is highly contagious until you've been on antibiotics for at least 24 hrs. I'm not sure where you are, but if you can, please limit exposing others as much as humanly possible.

I need a crash course in health insurance. I’ve only ever had military insurance so trying to learn the ins and outs of BCBS through both my and H’s policy is confusing the crap out of me. Adding to the confusion is that we still have military insurance for another month, but they’ve denied claims for DS’s medical stuff.

I’m aware. I have had it over six times in 3 years.
But I’m oot with an active child so getting to the outside playground this afternoon so she isn’t completely ooc is a must.

I'm using Rover.com for the first time for my little guy because I work both jobs and I'll be out of the house from 7:15 am til 10:30 PM. The girl seems great but I'm a bit nervous cause I've never done it. Hoping for a good experience because he is not mean at all but so, so shy and timid with people still.
