I had my Gallbladder out 3 weeks ago and things going fine. I had my post op and didnt have any issues. I have been trying to be careful with what I eat but I must be eating something that isn't sitting right the last couple of days.
Anyone ever get gas/bowel cramping? It is on my left side. (TMI upcoming) After I have a BM (which appear fairly normal) I do feel better temporarily but then it starts cramping again. It is also little tender to touch. I am thinking maybe it is due to my yogurt? There is no fat in it but wondering if dairy is messing me up. I have not had anything fried or greasy. Nothing fatty. Anyone have experience with this and know what might be a trigger?
Its possible it may be a stomach virus because there seems to be a lot out there. But IDK. Did this happen to anyone else?
Yep. The cramping followed by a trip to the bathroom has been my life. The doc says the bile salts can irritate the intestines and give you a case of ibs. He put me on a drug the helps bind the bile salts. It has helped.

I had this issue after my surgery. I did some research and find that taking a Calcium+D supplement really helps. I didn’t want to add another Rx to my routine so I tried this route first and it’s great for me.
I had my gallbladder out 2 weeks ago. I have noticed that my body doesn't seem to like dairy right now, even low fat dairy. My trouble comes in the form of reflux. I've stopped eating yogurt, ice cream, and cheese for now and will try again in a few weeks. I had my post op appointment yesterday and it was a reminder that my body is still healing and working itself out digestively. I'm hopeful none of my issues will stick around long term.

Yes. It was probably like a year before I could have dairy comfortably (but I still can’t have butter/cream cheese/soft cheese). Even now I avoid dairy because of the aversion to the cramping and gas.
Yup. I ended up on a med for a couple of years to help heal that. As long as I a on a good probiotic regularly, I am mostly ok now. But, I still have occasional issues and it has been about 10 years.
I steared clear of dairy for a while after my surgery as well. I had mine removed over 10 years ago now and can eat dairy (even full fat) with no issues. The only thing that gets me now is runny egg yolks and fried foods.
thanks. so what is a decent breakfast? my go to were yogurt and fruit/granola or ovenight oats. would almond milk be ok? or should I avoid that too for now?
After I got mine out I had horrible bloating and the worst gas pains. It felt like razor blades moving through me. It lasted off and on for a month or two and then it went away and never came back.

It took a good 6 months for my digestive system to get back to normal. I did not alter my diet after the surgery b/c I figured that since I was going to have to run to the bathroom anyway, I might as well eat what I like since no matter what I ate, I would be miserable.
I’m 10 years out and still have issue. Eggs and mornings are my nemesis. If I don’t eat before 9, whatever I have will run through me immediately. I once read that calcium binds with the bile salts, so for awhile I took calcium chews. It did help, but eating first thing in the morning and never have eggs outside the home have helped. I’ve quit that bc I can generally manage it now, and it’s been a good 3 years since I didn’t make it to a bathroom in time.
Hello you guys. I haven’t posted or commented in so long.
I am having gallbladder surgery in about a month. I’m having so many terrible symptoms right now. I’m bloated no matter what I eat. I have terrible gas (poor hubby and kids). Heartburn is so annoying and mylanta helps some. I do have greasy stools and/or diarrhea randomly most days. I’m ready to have my gallbladder out of me. I just hope my symptoms clear up post surgery.
I would love some insight on what to expect post surgery and how long did it take before you could do normal things. I have a 3 year old daughter. Yikes!
I had mine out on a Friday. That evening I felt good enough to eat spaghetti and meatballs. I was still sore for a few days but nothing major. I skipped work on Monday and Tuesday just in case. At the time I had a four-month-old so I wasn’t getting great sleep. I still have issues when I have too much sugar especially soda combined with you much fat. In general, if I avoid soda and other highly sugary substances I am fine. I love flavored coffees but I have to limit those also.
I had mine out in a Thursday and was supposed to be off work for a week. I was back in the office on tuesdy. I went for my one week checkup, and he said I could go back to work the next day, the “but you already did, don’t you?” Lol
I couldn’t work a full day for a week or so, just got ready tired easily. But I was also changing jobs just after, so I needed to go in, clean my office out and such.

H had his out a few years ago and thankfully has never had an issue. My sister then had hers out and occasionally has issues. She recently found out she can no longer eat bananas of all things
While my surgery itself was a nightmare and 5 day hospital stay, I've had zero issues since. I eat Keto, so a lot of fat on a regular basis, and I'm just fine.

I’m having mine out Tuesday. The earlier posts made me nervous but the later ones have made me feel better. I WFH so no worries there, I just can’t live without cheese!!
