How can she diagnose you over the phone? I’m concerned for you. I think you should go in if you’re still in pain. Their response is Complete bull shit.
I’m not having any pain currently so I’m tempted to wait it out.
Previously it was very intense intestinal pain. Yesterday I had pain all day on and off in both the intestinal (lower) region and then at the top of my bump (stomach area?) When I almost passed out two weeks ago, the pain was intestinal and caused me to sweat and have my vision change. I have never had experience with passing out before, even when in labor without pain meds.
Well, it took two hours to hear back from the phone nurse which is unusual for them. She said it’s just GI pain, most likely a bug. She suggested anti acids and is calling in Reglan. She said if it gets worse or doesn’t go away, get checked out.
no, this is not acceptable. first of all, as a nurse, she cannot diagnose. second, she cannot evaluate you over the phone. as a nurse, when I receive calls from patients, I tell them what I *think* it may be but that I cannot diagnose at all or evaluate over the phone, and that the patient needs to see their OB, or come in to L&D for physical assessment.
I agree with the others that you should advocate for yourself and demand further workup from your actual provider.
Can you go to your primary doctor? The whole coming and going really sounds like gallbladder. DH had to have his removed and the pain he described was the exact way I’d describe labor

If it is gallbladder it will return, and possibly be worse the next time. Go in and ask for an ultrasound of your gallbladder. In some cases you could risk infection by not getting treated...

Sorry, but your medical team's response sucks and I'd be seeking different providers.
As for the pain, I had a gallbladder attack while about 36 weeks pregnant. The pain was centered at the top of my stomach, so I went to L&D where they diagnosed it. It was the most intense pain I've ever felt, more than labor because that comes and goes and this was unrelenting. It felt like a vise was squeezing me. They told me I need to have my gallbladder removed because it WILL come back. It's also super common for women and often brought on by pregnancy.
