We just got DD a playhouse, and now are trying to decide what color(s) to paint it. The grey feels too boring to me, plus it doesn't go very well with our house, which has reddish-brown brick with dark brown trim. So far most of the playhouse pictures I've found online are either grey, white, or natural wood, but I'd like to try something a little more fun. The railing and the posts supporting the railing are vinyl; everything else is wood and could be painted. Any thoughts or ideas?

IDK how well it would go with your current house but I vote yellow. 😁

My mom just painted her shed aqua and it looks really pretty and fun! Her house is a 1950 cape so it fits with the 50s vibe of her house and neighborhood.
I don't think a play house needs to match your house at all. I'd let my kid pick a color and then find a few samples that don't repulse me and let her pick the final color. Everyone knows it's a playhouse.
My fist thought was yellow. I’d probably go to Sherwin Williams & grab paint swatches of any fun color that I felt like I could tolerate and let her choose. The only time I’d even remotely care about it coordinating with the house would be if it was really visible from the street (like a corner lot without a fence)...and even then, I wouldn’t care much unless there were stupid HOA rules.
As you’re choosing, remember that it’s very little paint and it won’t take much time to repaint it. If you choose a color and hate it or get tired of it, you can easily change it later.

My grandpa built us a playhouse in his back yard as a "mini" version of their house. It was painted the same color as their house and had a white mini porch swing. He also gave us an address.. we were 405 1/2 Ed Street...their address with 1/2 added. He would leave messages for us in our mailbox when we came to visit and when the mailman knew we were in town he'd leave the real mail in our mailbox... it was a lot of fun.

I just wanted to update now that we've finally gotten around to painting. Thanks so much to everyone for all the ideas! After showing DD suggestions from here as well as many trips to Sherwin Williams to show her paint chips, DD decided she wanted her playhouse to be blue, purple, pink, and unicorns (apparently unicorn counts as a color to a 5 year old!). So we went with blue on the outside, purple and pink on the inside, with unicorn curtains. There's still some minor touch up that needs to be done, painting the shutters white, and adding things like a window box and address numbers. But that will probably all wait until spring, as for now H and I are done putting more effort into a playhouse than our own house 😛

Adorable! The loft looks like the one in our new bedroom! ❤️
I hope your loft is also pink and unicorn themed 😋
Not quite, but our son keep saying the loft is going to be his giant Beyblade stadium, so it might definitely have "a look." For now I'm just happy that the railing got stained today to match our new floors!
