So have you guessed what you will pay for electricity in 2013 and beyond ---- as 208 coal plants will close by the end of this year due to EPA regulations making it not cost effective to be in business. "necessarily skyrocket"?? What energy source will substitute for coal and at what cost?
I heard that Obama is planning to close ALL coal and gas plants in the entire country because he hates America and really wants people to go broke paying their electricity bills.
I have a friend who gets money from the power company each month because her solar panels put more into the power grid than her house takes out.
But, yes, relying on coal when we have alternative, functional sources like solar and wind, are definitely the way to go. Republicans are so forward thinking!

In my hometown in MI, they've built a gigantic windmill farm in the countryside that spans miles- it's amazing to look at. I'm curious to know how that project is panning out.

OMG don't get me started.
I have a FB friend who is a geologist. She got laid off from her coal mine job in 2008. It's not because the economy collapsed though. It's because Obama is personally closing all coal mines.
But it's ok though. She found a job at a gold mine. She'll never lose her job from there because liberals just love their smartphones and gold is used to build cell phones.
NM that she posts to FB eleventy-billion times a day from her iphone.

I just looked up the wind farm in MI- apparently it's selling the energy to Consumers Power and is generating enough power for 27,000 homes! Neat.
CHICAGO, Feb. 24, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nordex USA, Inc. will be supplying 34 wind turbines to Exelon Wind, LLC for the Beebe Community Wind Farm in Gratiot County, Michigan. The 81.6 MW wind farm will be the first major project worldwide and the first in the United States to use the Nordex N117/2400 turbine, the latest addition to the company's respected Gamma Generation product family, specifically designed to maximize output in light wind conditions. The 2.4 MW turbines, on 91 meter towers, will be located on 21,000 acres near Ithaca, Michigan, about 45 miles north of the state capital of Lansing.
The electricity generated by the project, sufficient to power more than 27,000 homes, will be supplied to Consumers Energy of Jackson, Michigan, under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
Hydro, solar, wind... and nuclear. Amazing that our anti-energy, anti-technolgy, socialist Muslim president is...the first president in 30 years under whose admin a new nuclear reactor has been okayed.

I'm guessing that obese people poop more than regular sized people. The bigger Americans get the more we poop. There must be enough energy in poop to do something. Some people in the world make fires with poop I'm pretty sure. Poop is the answer for us.

Our electric company offers the option to pay a little more to get the majority of our power from wind/water, which we've done for years. I'm fine with this.

Lookey here! Here's your proof!! Obama closes coal mines permanent like while Mittens only closes them for his campaign appearances. And all those lucky coal miners get to attend his rally on their own dime.. Win win!!

I'm pretty sure that this tips the scales for me, because it will give MH job security. His job is all about energy efficiency and alternative energy stuff for houses, specifically. He does a lot of work with geothermal units, solar panels, and the like. He has several test houses he oversees that are zero energy - they are pretty amazing.
BTW, if anyone wants to move to Knoxville, two of the test houses (that are really gorgeous, IMO) and fully stocked with every thing energy efficient you can think of are going on the market in early 2013.
ETA: and the prices for the homes will be relatively in line with other houses of their size/location in the area because a lot of the equipment used in them was donated by the manufacturers.
Impact on migratory bird populations. Also maybe butterflies? I think?
And depending on how they are sited there's also the usual issues with what they cleared/cut down to make room and build access roads and what that did to the storm water runoff in the area.
But there is no such thing as no-impact energy, and IMO this one isn't that bad. I also like mini-hydro too though, so I might just be an earth hater. (not hoover dam. think more like the modern energy producing versions of millstreams)
