Sweetchix-I am totally confused about why you dealing with the non-benefits you are dealing with...Why can't you move out the house WITH your children? The living situation that it seems you're saying you HAVE to deal with is confusing the hell out of me...and messing with my fear of non benefits ALL over again. Are you dealing with this situation because it has something to do with the state you live in?

Andplusalso, I'm sure it's mostly a custody issue. She can't just up and leave with the kids because it could be considered kidnapping. Likewise, if she leaves without the kids it could be considered abandonment.

Everyone makes their own decisions, based on the information they have on hand at the time; goals for the future, and past experience. Doubly when it is comes to our kids.

And can someone explain to me what "non-benefits" means???
Nothing. It was a stupid post weeks ago which made no sense. It's like the number of licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop--the world may never know.

It's the opposite of a benefit. it's the downside. OR something.
Except there aren't actually any if you have a commitment ceremony, buy a house together, have kids together and basically spend a shit ton of money on legal documents instead of the $20 bucks or whatever on a marriage license.
Andplusalso it's probably way more difficult to separate then spend the money on pre-nup.

A non benefit is the non benefits of marriage. Which, you obviously don't want, but you doooo want the benefits, like the legal ones. So, you have to get all the benefits of marriage and not the non benefits (like divorce). Because separating when you own a bunch of shit together and have legal documents is more benefity than getting a divorce because... Um, it's a non benefit.
