We’re moving into a house with wood floors in the bedroom. I want to put area rugs in the kids rooms because I think wood floors won’t be very fun to play on.
The rooms are 10x10. How big of an area rug would you use?
I would look for a square rug if possible - no larger than 8x8. We had a rug that came within a few inches of the wall and it always looked weird - we ended up replacing it with a smaller rug.
I would figure out furniture first and then the rug. We have hardwood floors and even though a larger rug would look/feel nice it would only partially go under some furniture (crib, bed, chair) and the furniture would be crooked.

I think it's typical/recommended to have the front legs of furniture under the carpet. It shouldn't make things uneven.

I think it depends on the thickness of the rug. In rooms with lighter rugs we don’t have this issue but do with the super fluffy rug in the nursery 🤷🏻♀️

We has this issue but just put some felt pads on the back legs of the crib and changing table and called it a day.
