When will my breastfed 3-week-old DD go longer stretches between feedings?
I was prepared for feeding a newborn every 2-3 hours or 8-12 times a day, based on all the books/articles I’ve read. But DD eats more like every 1-2 hours and 15 times a day and has since birth. It’s not a supply issue; I actually have oversupply (plus she has gained weight like crazy and has tons of wet/poop diapers each day, so I know she’s getting enough).
Breastfeeding has always been really important to me and I have no physical issues doing it (good latch, good supply, no pain). But damn if I’m not tempted to switch to formula just to have longer feeding intervals.
DS (EFF) ate every two hours until he was about 6 months old when he finally started going about 3 hours between bottles. I think starting solids made more of a difference than formula. Hell, he eats every two hours now at 15 months, though it's real food so I can at least just throw a pouch at him when it's snack time...
Another question! If you have sliding doors to the outside, what do you do in summer to prevent little ones from getting out? We normally live with open windows in summer but can't just leave the access for baby girl to run out. A gate isn't really a solution as we can't screw/fix anything. Any thoughts/tricks?

Can you get maybe a folding gate? DH had made an 8 panel gate for the dog pre-kid, that we had in storage, so we just too 2 panels off and propped them in front of the screen door.

I was thinking a pressure mounted gate would work.
But honestly I just keep discussing screen safety and how we dont push on screens, etc and have since the first time it was open. We did the same approach with our fireplace and he understands those are not boundaries to test. Obviously that's going to be kid dependent.
When will my child stop taking her shoes off in the car? It’s SO ANNOYING.
When you find out, let me know! Mine takes off both shoes and socks. Now that it’s a touch warmer, we have started just bringing them along with us and putting them on at daycare because at least then we don’t have to search the car to see where they all went (he delights in tossing them in all directions).
ssmjlm , hamster , there is no screen, it's just open to the outside
I'll look into pressure mounted stuff!
Do you live in a magical place without bugs? Where is it? Can I live there? how do you do this? We don't even live in a particularly buggy place and it would be horrible in our house if we left it open!

I'm in Belgium. It's just not a thing here (in Europe in general). And no, nothing magical or bug free though obviously it's nothing like say Florida!
I use a lot of citronella candles and am psychologically preparing myself for the spiders, especially at the garden level 😭😭😨😨
DS is younger but also loves buttons. I bought a Rocktopus for DD when she turned 5 and turns out DS loves playing with it instead since about 13 months. He's figured out how to place and remove the instrument "cans" or whatever they are called. It's one of the few toys that keeps him sitting in one place.
I noticed DD(3) has some issues pronouncing certain words especially Ls, and makes S sound like th. Any recommendations on helping her pronounce words better and when should I start being concerned?

How old is she? The "s" being pronounced "th" and issues with "l" are perfectly fine until around 6 years. I give this chart out at the beginning of the year for my Kindergarten families.

This chart is so helpful, thank you! DD is 3. Right now I repeat words with her and have her look at my mouth to mimic tongue and mouth placement.

I can tell you that basically every toddler I know has trouble with L. Dd (26 mo) is Lily. She is starting to get it now (I think because it’s her name so she has a lot of practice ), but for the longest time it came out as Yi-yi. And ALL of her friends have trouble saying it.

You're welcome! Having her watch your mouth while you show her correct placement is exactly what you should do. It's what the SLPs tell us teachers to do
Do they make no-show socks for toddlers, to wear with flats? I have these shoes (thank you raangoli and BB!) for DD to wear with her flower girl dress in a few weeks. They're just a teeny bit big on her, so socks could help fill in the gap. But I don't want the socks to show.
Do they have these for small kids? DD is in a toddler 5. I'm looking at some on Amazon but not sure they'll work with these shoes. The shoes will be OK even if I don't find socks, but I'm wondering if the right socks would make any difference in the fit.

My 3 week old is ENF, get so restless during feeding. He half cries, pulls at his face, fidgets. It’s not at every feeding, but when he does it’s almost impossible to calm him. He latches well, I have enough milk. He doesn’t seem to have gas. I just don’t know what to do to calm him and it’s so upsetting to see him work himself up like that. Any advice? Is it something they outgrow. My older one wasn’t like that, so this is new to me.

E1 did this, and E2 does it sometimes. Honestly, when E2 does it, he is usually working on a poop diaper/has gas. But E1 did outgrow it (can't remember when).
You can try nursing while walking around, shushing, bouncing gently, etc.

That’s what I do. It’s fine during the day, at night it’s a bit nuts. I was hoping it’s something he’d outgrow. He’s still so little.
Also, anything I can do for baby acne? It’s so humid here and I don’t want it to get worse.

Nothing to do for baby acne. It's your hormones in his system, and they just have to clear. E2's skin was so much better by 2 months.

Thank you!! My hormones are all over the place. I’m sweating So much and normally I don’t sweat that much. I’m drenched in cold sweat so often. I change my shirts often. Sorry for the tmi. It’s amazing how different this time around is.

There is a boy in my dd preschool class (they are 4) who keeps kissing my dd at school. The teachers mentioned it last week and my dd has said it happened everyday since. I know it’s innocent but I’m a germaphobe and kissing on the lips freaks me out. We told my dd we don’t kiss friends at school. Say no. Say no thank you etc. She told me today that she said no thank you but he did it anyways. Anything suggestions on what I can do?

My feminist rage-o-meter would be in the orange range on this. I’d role play with my DD about how to say no (strong voice, hand out) coach her on what to do if the boy does it despite saying no (yell for a teacher) and tell the teacher to keep an eye on it and intervene when needed. Any efforts to brush it off as a cute “crush” by them would be dealt with by going to the director. At that age they should be teaching all of the kids about body autonomy.

I suppose it will be too warm for tights? Depending on the socks it may it make a difference if there is too much space. Do the shoes slip off her heels easily? Also yay that she’s able to wear them! Let me know if you’re interested in some size 7 sparkle unicorn flats for next year 😂

Thanks! I tried them on C last night and she was walking around OK, but I thought socks might make them a little more secure. The strap across the foot helps a lot. FSIL said she's just hoping DD can get down the aisle and be in some photos with shoes on, but aside from that she doesn't care. The other FG will be in gold sneakers so I have options if BB's shoes don't work out (meaning, I don't have to scramble to find something specific).
I thought about tights as well but I think it'll be too hot. Maybe I'll pack them just in case? Not like they take up any real room in the bags.
The unicorn shoes sound really cute! At the rate DD is growing, though, it might be a couple years before she can fit into 7s. DD was chowing down at the shower this weekend and my sister said, "Where does it all GO?" lol

If you can’t find no show socks, can you do those ruffle-y little girl socks? Classic little girl, kind of dressy?

I think little toddlers with cute ruffly socks with shoes like that are adorable, lol.

Thank you. This was my train of thought but I’m so irritated that I wanted to see if I was overreacting. I about died when she told me that he likes it so that is why he kisses me. Umm no. You told him no. I guess it happened today at circle and the teacher did tell him no. It’s hard because they are actually buddies
