Amazingly, my H agreed we should start looking at houses again to be prepared to put in an offer soon after we accept an offer. The modern house we originally looked at is still on the market so we're sending questions to ask the seller before we go back to look at it again.
Today, we're looking at a fixer upper, which is in a great location, on a wide street (which is unusual in the area) and has some good bones/original features. It's a Victorian terraced house. We would have to knock down the kitchen/diner and conservatory as both are awful - but it would give us space for a nice sized kitchen/diner/powder room/utility room. Due to the large for city living back yard, we might even be able to put in a granny annex for my MIL. And we'd put in a loft extension (where you can see the Velux window) with a big bedroom/en-suite.

My H and I liked the house. It will need at least £125,000 in work, if not a bit more to get it workable - but if we could get it for a bit less than the asking price, it'd be doable. It does have potential, is near a bus stop for my MIL, walkable to everywhere we want in the area and appeared to be okay for parking. So, an option.
