I’m 100% OK with spoilers.
I haven’t watched all of it, but all the toilet communication and toilet passing is so gross.
Some of the inmates have had such a hard background. Like Baby Girl saying her parents were 13 and 15 when she was born and her 11 year old aunt took care of her!
Jay seems like she had a lot going for her in the past. Was it just the drug lifestyle?

Yes, you see how much better she looks in one of the last episodes after she’s gotten out. But there’s no way she will stay clean if all the people on the outside are addicts as well.
The flooding of the cells is so disgusting, and I hope the men get punished for doing such a thing.

The one abusive guy, Baby Girl's Monster's ex (right? I keep forgetting their names), who had a girl inside and a girl on the out, god that made me so sad for the women. Why don't they value themselves?
It's disturbing how much contact the men and the women have.
And how slow the guard seem to respond to issues, but maybe that's the editing.

Monster’s ex A-1. He is a scary guy with his abuse history.

Yes, that's the name. I couldn't ever keep them straight.

The scene with them trying to pass notes through the toilet made me want to vomit. There was literally $hit on the line they were using and toilet water and she had no gloves on!

I was grateful to see that Megan was able to give her statement, and he was sentenced to prison. And I hope she’s able to remain sober and live a life free of horrible men.
I just read that Monster was arrested again and is back in jail.
I felt a little bad when I saw this earlier today - I really thought she was going to be able to pull it together.
But...she’s clearly not too bright. She was busted because got recognized in a bank while trying to cash a bad check. You are on a current show on Netflix and your name is literally tattooed across your forehead. She couldn’t have tried to disguise her self a bit? Jeesh.

Also, I was taken aback at how bad the women’s complexions were. When my sil was in jail for a while, same thing happened to her. She generally didn’t have bad skin but in jail? Horrible. I can’t even imagine how dirty and unsanitary everything is ( especially with your dumbass face jammed down the toilet bowl.)

She was also caught in a stolen vehicle with credit cards in other people’s name and was in possession of a controlled substance.. Like, man let’s do all the crimes in one fell swoop. .

An addict be an addict.
This is the worst part of jail as rehab...they get turned back into the real world I the same circles, no coping skills, and no way to make any lasting changes.

Yes. I was surprised while watching the show they never had the women in any sort of classes, job training, parenting class , life skills etc. Did they just not show it? Or do they not get stuff like that?
If not, they are just biding their time until the get released into the same mess that got them arrested. So sad.
I just finished it. I really want all of them to do good in life. Like all of them seemed like genuinely wanted to but they have been handed a shit sandwich. So if anything I gained empathy for everyone of them. (with exception of the abusive player)

I know the one inmate that got married to the other one was in some program to help her with life skills. The officer talked to her wife to have her try and convince her to move to the other facility so she could finish the program.
We went to a charity event last year that a former prisoner started for women getting out of prison to help them get on their feet. Apparently there are a lot more organizations that help men but not as many to help women. The lady that started it had an amazing story of redemption in her life. I really hope she does well with her charity.
This show makes me so sad. It also gives me anxiety and absolutely no hope. This show does a good job of highlighting how absurd and arbitrary the sentencing process is, and how these women are trapped in a cycle perpetuated by violence, racism, poverty etc. I haven’t finished it yet. What happens to Yasmine?

Apparently, she's waiting a court date, but they don't really talk much to her at the end.
