This feels like a good place to share how annoyed I am that several people have been horrified and told me that NO NO NO DD CANNOT wear DS's hand me downs? What? I mean, I prob won't put her in bow ties or the shirt that says "handsome", but why can't she wear some of his comfy clothes? Girls can like dinosaurs and the color blue, too!
I'll borrow my H's favorite response....People are stupid.

The majority of my boys clothes went to their female cousins. *shrug*

yeah that’s weird to care about that. My 3 year old son loves his sisters hand me downs, including her pink Minnie Mouse bike. I mean someday he might not, but for now it’s worked fine handing things down.
Yes! I know not 100% of his clothes will work, but a lot will! Also I played with ALL of my brothers toys as a kid and loved them. I hope she's the same, in part because I don't want any more shit in my house.
My four-year-old who goes to a preschool program at a religious school told me today that he “prayed for the good president, but NOT for the bad president” during the morning prayer today. I was so concerned that his teacher might think he calls Trump the good president that I emailed her to explain why my little activist calls Trump the bad president and Obama the good president. She probably thinks my email is loony tunes, but I will not have anyone mistaking us for MAGAts!
And I’ll shoot a hole in your perfect due date scenario. Mine are only 4 weeks apart, but DS1 is a teeny guy, wearing 18m clothes even though he just turned 2. So hopefully it works out, but you may find that they’re wildly different sizes anyway.
It's picture day at daycare. DD2 (2) has cried and/or scowled in every daycare picture, plus every time we've tried to get professional photos done. I asked her to smile in her pictures today and she kept saying no. So I told her if she smiles in her pictures I'll give her a piece of candy tonight, and she said okay. This is probably not great parenting lol. But I'll find out tonight if it worked!
We went through similar with DD (almost 3) a few weeks ago. I asked her that morning if she was going to smile for her pictures. She said no, she was going to pout. Same as you, I told her if she smiled she’d get a piece of candy that night and she agreed. Hopefully it works better for you than it did for us!!
Update: she did smile in a couple of the pictures. But also she got an incident report for biting another kid. So, there's that.
Congratulations, elleblue! Having two girls is so much fun.
I did exactly two fun things this weekend -- take the girls strawberry picking (which they LOVED) and watch GoT. The rest was working, blech.
It has been a little more than a week and two treatments, and I am still finding a few lice and eggs in my kids' hair. ARGH. This is the first time I've dealt with lice with them (I had it once, when I was in junior high) and while I'm grateful that we got to grades 3 and 5 without incident, it is so frustrating to keep combing and combing and picking these things out with my fingers because the nit combs are only so-so at getting eggs and very small lice, and despite how much time we've put into removal and washing of bedding, stuffies, etc., we're still finding the little bastards. And the girls and I all have such long hair, that makes it harder.
Adding to it is that I worry that DH just isn't as good/thorough at it as I am (I've been checking the girls' heads after he is done combing with the nit comb, and I inevitably find things that he missed), but he is the only one who can go through my hair. I mean, I can and do comb through my own hair, although most of the time he helps me; but I can't go over my own scalp by hand to get a more thorough removal.
If this keeps up, I swear to god I am hiring a lice fairy. I hate this so freaking much.
Get the lice fairy! I was so glad we did; it was worth every penny. (I called her after I started crying when I found MORE lice in MY hair a week after I thought we were clear.)

People have a weird obsession with the sex of other people's children. I can't believe how many people seemed relieved to hear my second child was a girl so I got one of each. I genuinely didn't care either way. I love having a girl, but would have been thrilled to have another boy, too. My kids are 10 years apart and I absolutely put her in some of her big brother's things that I had kept (a Mickey Mouse onesie, a reindeer snowsuit). Their birthdays are 6 days apart so it was fun to compare pics.
DD will be one on Friday. This has been the absolute fastest year of my life, it feels like she should only be like 4 months old. Yesterday was DS's last day of elementary school. They were supposed to go to elementary until 6th grade, but due to budget constraints they closed an elementary school and changed the grades to K-5 so we've only known he was going to middle school since February. Needless to say I'm an emotional wreck this week.

I have been playing with my response options for the "oh one of each!" people since we found out sizzli was a boy. Like "ah yes, like salt and pepper shakers. Very important". But completely straight faced so they aren't sure if I'm being serious.
