What if I got her a nice card and then put something like
"A few of Maria's Favorite Things..."
Good for One NAME OF HER FAVE ICE CREAM AT AN ICE CREAM PLACE SHE LOVES -- (I would then tape a $5 gift card to the card)
Good for One Post Run Treat -- ($5 GC to DD where she gets her post run doughnut).
Good for One NAME OF HER FAVORITE DRINK (or Two During Tuesday Happy Hour!) -- ($10 gift card to her favorite restaurant, which is expensive but they go to a lot so she would use).
Is it stupid since the amounts aren't really substantial? I really cannot come up with anything I like for her that she doesn't already have, could make, would want...Edibles are impossible b/c she is a good cook and super picky.
Or should I just do a $20 or $25 GC to one of those places and be done with it lol. I thought I could be somewhat cute in the card and put something about turning 40 means you should celebrate with all of your favorite things.
Go for it. One of my friends has done something similar the last two years for my birthday and it’s super thoughtful. $10 donation to local charities I volunteer with, small item representing something I’m into (last year a Hot Wheels Tesla, this year a bamboo utensil set), a food (last year brownies, this year literary fortune cookies). Small but so thoughtful and perfect.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
I think the small amounts work if you 100% know she's going to use them. 1) it will add up 2) it shows you know her really well and put a lot of thought and effort into it.
I would love that! And I’d be happier with $20 in GC that required thought and a little effort than a $50 GC to one place. For me, it’s really the thought that counts. And if she’s someone who “has it all”, I’m guessing she’s the same way.
