I just signed up for a free class at my local studio. I've never done it before, but I'm looking for a workout that I'll enjoy and hopefully do consistently. I'm thinking that the cost as well as the class aspect might keep me motivated to go
I don't really know what to expect if I'm being honest. I'm pretty out of shape and my flexibility is non-existent these days.
I went to Pilates Boot Camp for several weeks and I hated it. It is completely different from aerobics, which I prefer. It just wasn't "me", but I know a lot of people do very well with it. At least give it a try. : )

I love PiYo. Both it and Pilates are pretty difficult starting out IME because of core and shoulder strength and wrist flexibility, but I improve quickly.
Is is Club Pilates?? Anyway, I LOVE it! I've been doing it 5 days a week for almost a year and I definitely see a change in my body for sure. My core is so much stronger, I'm more flexible and I'm overall so much stronger. Try not to be nervous. There are so many ages, sizes, and levels of fitness. It has been such a positive experience for me.
I will add, that I have to supplement cardio with it. They even have a cardio class but that just doesn't fit my cardio needs. I do the reformer pilates, BTW.
dove it is not a mat to my understanding, the website says, "Reformer, EXO-Chair, Bosu Ball, TRX Suspension Trainer, springboards and more"
eb777888 Yes, Club Pilates. I admit, I'm really out of shape and really intimidated, but the class I'm taking is designed as an Intro, so hopefully I won't be alone in that boat. I have starting walking and aim to get 10,000 steps per day, but would eventually like to start running again, right now, I'm just too heavy and I worry about any more impact on my joints beyond just walking.
flex When I was in my best shape 10+ years ago, I did cardio, but it was never my favorite, I always preferred strength training so I'm hoping that bodes well for me with the Pilates.

I LOVE it. I posted about it the other day but I just started it in January and I think it’s my thing. I’m stronger, my posture is better, and I can really see a difference in my body, especially my waist and abs. I go twice a week on the reformer. If I could swing it I would definitely go more frequently, but it is expensive. I also supplement with cardio.
I took the intro class as well. It's short and sooooo easy! It's just showing you the basics of the machine, how the straps work, the Pilates breathing and the stretches. I didn't even work up a sweat.
Just FYI you will be spreading your legs wide in every direction so make sure you have super thick leggings. I've....seen some stuff, lol.
I do the unlimited membership, which means I can take as many classes as I want and it's $200/month. They have an 8 pack for $150, or you can sign up for any available class for $25. It is super pricey.
Don't be nervous about the intro class at all! They're going to explain the reformer to you and you'll do some beginner/introductory exercises. I stayed with the level 1 classes for a few months and recently moved to level 1.5. I don't know when I'll get the courage to start trying level 2. I like Club Pilates because it truly is for all levels, it's not intimidating at all compared to other places I've been.
If you sign up soon after attending the intro class, they'll offer discounted prices. I was doing the 8 classes for $90ish/month, but after 3 months the discount ended and I now pay $150/month for 8 classes. It's definitely pricy, but all pilates studios in my area are similar in price.

Our pricing is the same. Considering I was doing reformer Pilates for $350 for 10, 10 years ago, it feels like a deal. But definitely more than other workout places.
I love reformer pilates. It can be hard at the start because some of the movements are really subtle, but if your instructor is good about teaching you proper form and showing you modifications if necessary, it'll get easier.
I'm on a hiatus now, but I'm going to start up again with my private instructor in August. She charges $65 for a 1 hour 1-on-1 session. I also signed up for a Club Pilates opening up around the same time, hoping to supplement my private session with 2 group classes a week. Their 20% off, pre-opening special in my area is $160/mo for an 8-pack of classes.
