I pick DS up tonight for my week. This week has been the hardest for me so far missing him. And then I add to my guilt, my mom and I are going to a concert tomorrow night and DS will be spending the night with STBXH. I'm excited about the concert and spending time with my mom, but just wish it had fallen on my off weekend.
Nothing else planned for the weekend except spending time with DS.
I head to my annual sorority reunion - at a private wild animal sanctuary - this afternoon, and I cannot wait. Kayaks, fishing, hiking, hay ride to see the animals, pool time - seriously love summer and this trip.
DD catches the bus at 6:55 for her summer arts program, and I walk DS at 8:15. He’s an early riser, so while I work he’s eating breakfast and hanging out with the dogs and I am loving this bonus time with him. This morning he ate 6 mini pancakes, a protein waffle and a English muffin egg and sausage breakfast sandwich, and would have eaten two eggs and toast but he ran out of time. Thank goodness.
When I get back on Sunday I have a choir tour parent meeting (DD is going on the high school trip for the first time and will be gone 10 days) then a 4 hour birthday party at the neighborhood waterpark. I expect to be exhausted!! Then kids to bed and the start of a week with summer school enrichment in the mornings and soccer camp for middle 5:30-8:30 every night, with oldest departing Thursday morning.
It's supposed to be hot and sunny all weekend and I've got the girls. Tomorrow we're headed to an amusement park for the day with a big group of friends. Sunday we're doing a charity walk for 4H. It's only a mile I think, so that'll be quick and easy and then we'll have the rest of the day to hang out. I need to mow the lawn, trim the hedges, all that fun stuff. Probably catch up on some laundry too. I'm hoping it's a good mix of chores and fun this weekend without being too exhausting.
Sitting at the O’Hare Airport, my flight is currently 3 hours late because the plane broke. I was on the standby list for an earlier flight after this was delayed and almost made it on. They were about to close the boarding door and let me, and then the guy with the ticket sauntered up with literally seconds to spare. Not even running. I’m bummed, DD has a half day today and I was looking forward to hanging out with her. Guess not, reminds me why I try not to fly United. This connection has about 50% odds of being cancelled or delayed.

DS has a Little League game tonight. Tomorrow afternoon we're going to a family get together on my dad's side at my aunt's new house and her older daughter and new husband will be there as well. (We haven't met her husband as they live in Las Vegas and eloped in Hawaii.) Sunday is church and I may meet a friend for coffee. Other than that, we'll do some chores and I have to get groceries at some point too.
It's supposed to be hot and sunny tomorrow, so we may go to the local pool where we got a membership for the summer.
Kids are still in school...3 half days M-W next week, and then they're finally done!
phdmomma, sorry about your delay. O'Hare is a typical connection from the airport in our metro area, but I will spend more money to not have to fly through there. It seems like there are always issues and delays.
We're going to a concert in the park tonight with my parents. Tomorrow DD has two softball games. We'll go out to dinner after the second game. On Sunday afternoon, we are attending a surprise 70th birthday party for my uncle who is in town for a family wedding (that my dad and siblings are invited to but not cousins). It will be great to see some of my extended relatives as well as my uncle.
Next week will be rough. My FIL is having surgery to remove his cancerous prostate on Monday. I can't miss work at all next week because we have a super important audit going on. There will be some long days (7am - 5pm). My parents will watch the kids on Monday while DH is at the hospital and I am at work. I feel bad imposing on them though because my aunt, uncle, and two of their grandkids will still be in town and will want to do something. DH's sisters will be in for the surgery. One of his sisters is staying in town all week so I hope she makes herself useful instead of running off to visit friends. She promised to take care of FIL's dog while he is recuperating, which is why he decided not to send the dog to the kennel.
I did not sleep well or, really, much at all last night. H tries to get me to call in but I insisted and now I’ve very much hit a wall. Productive morning and early afternoon, though.
Tonight we are going to make slime/have dinner at a friend’’s house. Part of operation: build community. Saturday there is swim and dog training and then the kids have a babysitter while we go to a going away party. H is oldest friend is moving to Colorado. Not much planned Sunday.
We are going to the drive in tonight to see Secret Life of Pets 2, tomorrow will be spent doing some painting and landscape projects, and then Sunday is a church and family day!
I spent most of my day off at my grade/high/college Bffs moms funeral. At least yesterday the kids and I got to do some shopping, lunch and movie.
Tomorrow is about a 100000000% chance of rain and we have DHS company picnic at a water/amusement park. We are then supposed to go to a friend's cabin for some no kid time drinks, food ect. The kids are excited to stay with mom.
Hopefully we get this all in. It was supposed to rain today, but so far, none.

I'm beat. Yesterday I took a 7 am flight and presented to one client Board, flew back and met another visiting client (5 reps from Staff and Board) back at my office for a 3-5 meeting and then took them to dinner, then hosted them again in my office today from 9-2 including working lunch. It was their annual due diligence on me/the firm. Also DD got sent home from school yesterday with a fever and couldn't go back today, so we had one babysitter 8:30-noon, another noon-1:15, then DH went home early. Luckily second babysitter is coming back tonight so we can meet friends for dinner. I need a drink!
Also the rest of the weekend has no commitments. Woohoo! I'm on the East coast for work 3 days next week to pitch to another prospective client, so I need the break.
I was off today working tomorrow. Mostly I cleaned and then picked up kids early because they’ve been exhausted from camp. They cleaned their rooms kind of and currently playing Pokémon.
Tomorrow after work is date night possibly with a friend and Sunday is a Girl Scout end of the year party.
This week was exhausting. I was up until 1am and then 3:30am working Mon and Tues, had wed off for the end of year party and worked before and after the party while trying to finish laundry, packing and cleaning. Worked Thursday and left an hour and a half later than planned to get ds from school as he got out early for the last day and drive to the race this weekend. We got here at 10pm last night and dh and ds will race today through Sunday then we head to Disneyland, LEGOland and the wild animal park for the next week to kick off summer break. I’m excited but feel exhausted starting this and it worries me. But we are officially on vacation so I’m pushing through and ignoring how tired I am.
Another rotten week on my end. I guess it caught up as DD and I both over slept. Woke at 8:30, school starts at 8:45 and I got her there on time. I then came home and went back to bed and didn't surface until 1pm. Watched a little TV then picked DD up from school. Talked DH into taking her to open gym tonight and he is going to wander Jerry's.
Saturday is strawberry picking at 10. Birthday party at 2 at a gymnastics place in town. Sunday nothing is planned yet.

DH and I are in NYC for the weekend to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary! We planned the trip before we found out about his lay off, and it was too late to cancel. We are still doing everything we planned, minus all the shopping I was planning to do. It's been great so far.
