I need a new workout program. I’ve been pretty sedentary since I broke my foot in October... Not because of the broken foot.. life got in the way and I just never got back to it. Both kids are at the same place for summer, and I feel like I have some breathing room.
Gym and running are out. (Can’t consistently go to the gym since I’m reliant on DH to watch the kids. Running involves too much heat or waking up too early.. plus either being reliant on DH’s schedule or pushing DS *and* trying to convince DD to ride her bike at a consistent speed.)
I would prefer something a half hour or less (I’ve been working out after work and before I pickup kids from daycare) and that’s cool for klutzes... I am minimally coordinated at best.
I have done: 30 day shred: liked the first 2, hated the 3 (too many awkward moves). It gets repetitive though, and I hate Jillian Michaels focus on doing it for the sake of a “better” body and bikini shopping. And the fact that “Natalie” cheats when she thinks the camera is off her.
PiYo: loved everything about it except the longer days (I run out of time - 45-50 mins is currently out of my range.) I have unfortunately memorized all of her commentary (“it’s a kick through, it’s advanced! Master the beginner level!”). I’m currently doing this yet again but worried I’ll get bored of it.
T25: too much awkward jumping. I’m a klutz and uncoordinated and can’t keep up.
Facebook is currently recommending Boss Body Method and Betty Rocker like they’re going out of style. Has anyone used either? Or have recommendations for something else I might like?
We have a treadmill and that or a bike would be nice because it’s in your house so no childcare restrictions or running outside. I’m still not doing it as much as I should so I think I am going to try running 10-15 minutes a day rather than the couch to 5k because 30 minutes in the morning leaves me feeling rushed through our routine.
I have a book with exercises that I like a lot but there are only 18 sets of exercises so it gets repetitive. I might look for another one at my library. The videos are hit or miss for me but the books can be more tailored. Strength training is of interest to me and we have quite a few books on it.
waverly unfortunately, a treadmill or bike is probably not an option. I live in the land of small homes and no basements and I’m not willing to trade living space.
ETA: TBH, we could fit one. It would just be smack dab in the middle of my family room and not an option.

k3am , I wouldn't get equipment. I think if you like HIIT then you can do the work with bands or hand weights and a chair or step and keep your space clear.
I did 80 day obsession and found it was a good mix of cardio, weights, and core. Some of the workouts are an hour, but I think most of them are 45 mins. You never do the same workout twice. The moves are the same for the month, but the reps/intensity change every week. After a month, the moves change. I tried the meal plan with it too, but ended up modifying it a bit since it cut out dairy.
I like 21 day fix - the nice thing is that once you go through the series, you can move into 21 day fix extreme. Also they just did a new/updated version this year which progresses every week (instead of doing the same 7 workouts over 3 weeks).
This doesn’t fit your criteria because I guess it’s a gym, but I love Orangetheory. You could check out the schedules near you - they usually have pretty frequent classes, and you can be in and out in 55 min - so if there was one with a convenient class time on your way home, it may be the same time commitment as going home and then doing a 30-min workout. It’s the most efficient and effective workout I’ve done, in my opinion, and I’ve done hiit, CrossFit, Kettlebells, marathon training, etc.
We also have a small house and no basement, and got an elliptical crosstrainer for our garage. DH parks on one one side of the garage but we put the elliptical between the strollers, wagon, bikes, etc on the other side.
k3am, makese sense. We live in the land of basements. At least this thread and my new goal of just get on for 10 minutes instead of doing the C25K inspired me to walk on it for whatever time I had this morning. Hopefully it can just become a habit.
I'll let you know if I find a good book or video. I will check today.
I really liked 21 day fix cause they are all 30 minutes-that was a big seller for me. I loved PIYO as well but could never do the longer ones so I know what you mean with that.
I also really like PopSugar videos ( I follow their FB Page) they often have shorter ones with all different instructors and types of exercise.

... it was 105 in my garage when I got home from work yesterday. And somewhere above 80 when I left for work at 6:50 today. This heatwave is brutal. I'm sweating just thinking about it in my A/C'd office.
I have a subscription to the Beachbody library. It was the same price as getting the PiYo stuff and you have access to a ton more types of workouts of all lengths. Plus I can do it on my iPad when I travel, which was the main thing I was hoping for.
