Last year, on my birthday because he's a terrible person, exH told me he was having an affair and leaving me.
So this year, I am throwing myself some kind of awesome party. I don't have the kids that weekend, so I can plan whatever I want.
Help me come up with a fun idea! Do I just go all out with an awesome party at my house, Pinterest the hell out of it, and we just dance in my yard and drink? Do we go out somewhere? I live super close to Boston, so night on the town is an easy option. Rent some kind of cabin for a drunken girl's weekend?
Help me plan this! I am taking back that date and not letting it become a shitty anniversary.
Any of your ideas sound fun! When I was younger I might have wanted a drunken night out. At this point I’d rather either do a weekend away (including day drinking in a wine region if possible) or get a spa treatment at a fancy hotel and spend my day hanging by the pool with my friends.
You may be running out of time for planning a girls weekend away with a cabin unless your friends are not the booked out type.I do like doing trips for birthdays though since I am not a fan of hosting.
I feel like you probably like to host and event plan so a shindig in your house sounds good. Last year we went to a soccer game, out to dinner with friends and then drinks after which was super fun.
At this stage in my life, dinner and drinks out or a shindig at my house would be my way. I could invite Everybody to my house or closer friends to dinner/drinks. I used to throw myself a party every year by organizing a bar to meet up at downtown. That was mostly in my 20s and early 30s and relatively successful when everyone was single/kidless.
My top picks would be: 1. A wine tour - with a party bus - day drinking 2. Glamping - a cabin with friends, food and booze 3. If you had access to a pool, a day drinking pool day with friends.
Anything day drinking these days is my thing. Night/early morning drinking is for the youngins.

#3!! Can you get a room at or near the Colonnade and spend the day at the rooftop pool?

Taking a moment to slow blink and say yes, he is the aaaaaaaaaaaaabsolute worst.
The rooftop pool sounds so amazing. I love pools that have bars IN the pool too. I don't know if you have that in your area. Really though, all you need is a waiter.
Wine tours are also soooo amazing with either party bus or limo!
I’d do a city overnight in a hotel (rooftop bar pool on recovery day is ideal). Pampering Saturday, out OUT Saturday (dinner for those who prefer an earlier night, followed by a club). I had my 40th at a club and no one left before 2. It was a great night.
mae0111, Colonnade is such a good idea! I was thinking trying to incorporate Lawn On D somehow too, since that's always a fun time.
I don't really want to spend a small fortune and would feel bad expecting my friend to foot the bill for my craziness. So I need to do some price shopping. But I like these ideas!
If you want Lawn on D, check out pricing at the Westin next to the convention center. Their prices are usually great, and you’re walking distance. It looks like the pool is open to all if you buy a day pass, but first come, first served. So maybe a waterfront pub crawl or a booze cruise??
All good ideas above. Is it super creepy that I want to come and celebrate your independence lol! J/k I won’t be a creeper but I’m happy you are taking this time for yourself and I hope all your girlfriends can join you!!
