And so many explanations that it's b/c they are such a steadfast supporter of their careers. This is so backwards. I mean, is your wife really your hero?
I know Bullocks' wife is a mathematician and computer science person who runs a statistics division of our Judicial system for kids (don't know her exact title), and I'd say she's a bit of my hero (more than Steve, but I also grew up with Lisa and she's badass). I wonder how Steve would really want to be like Lisa and how she's his "hero" instead of partner that he is proud of her accomplishments outside their marriage.
Has anyone seen this video? I find the way he physically tried to intimidate Joy Reid so uncomfortable. You're running for president. You're going to get questions you don't like. You don't take it out on the interviewer. Joy Reid is NOT alone in thinking that compromise is very difficult across parties right now.
Here's the story. It's terrible. He needs to go. Watching Bernie die a slow death is a little satisfying, but my god, Biden needs to just be ejected from the race immediately.
Also can we talk about Joe Biden bragging about having dinner with segregationists because my god.
This campaign is worse than I could have imagined. He’s gone from “if he wins, fine” to Bernie territory for me in the span of about two weeks.
The more he talks, the more it seems like what he’s really saying is he will be more successful at bipartisanship than Obama because he’s white.
Yup.
His whole pitch - that, the joking about the sexual harassment stuff... it all seems calculated to reach the old white people who just want to go back to the nice quiet days when everyone knew their place.
It's really fucking gross.
Also he's not even running a campaign! He didn't do this very basic NY Times thing. He apparently did his first appearance at an event with other democrats just this week. He's got no policies. I don't think he does town halls or rallies with any regularity. He's just opening his mouth at truck stop diners once in a while to remind us all that's he's really terrible. For all the shit people spewed at Hillary for treating the primary like a coronation, it's enraging Biden is getting a pass on his entitlement. HE is the one behaving like this should be a coronation. He's acting like he's better than everyone else in the race and they aren't serious enough competitors for him to have to do anything other than phone it in.
The way these dem primary randoms have just turned into anti Biden and Bernie threads have reached BEC territory for me. I keep coming into them hoping to learn something new about the candidates and all I read is how awful Bernie and Biden are. I have no plans to vote for Biden in the primary, but there is a good chance that he is going to be our candidate. So, I'd rather not be so focused on Biden's awfulness. I just wish it could be more positive. Instead of bashing him, I would love to hear why someone is supporting a certain candidate.

You can all flame me now.
Um, this is a strange complaint with no basis in reality.
There’s a dozen posts today about news that came out today about both Bernie and Biden so that’s what we are talking about.
I also made two posts about Kamala’s new policy and her poster today. If you don’t want to talk about Bernie and Biden, you can certainly respond to those with commentary! You can also add your own new information about whatever you want!
Also literally every primary thread we’ve had has discussed tons of topics and candidates.
Biden is leading in the polls and was basically bragging about segregationists not being terrible to him because he's white. That's worthy of discussion, IMO. So is the stuff coming out of Kamala's campaign, the white dude obsession with calling their wives their hero, and why the NYT didn't include a reproductive rights question. It's almost like there is a lot going on in the primary!
Also we are focused on Biden's awfulness because what he said last night was awful. He's getting raked through the coals by other Dems. The comments were horrible, and I think people have a responsibility to criticize them.
I'm not really a fan of this whole "can't criticize other dems anywhere ever because they might be the nominee " It's not like we are working for the DNC.
Fair enough. Like I said, it's BEC for me so I'm probably focusing too much on the negativity.
The real question is why do I keep reading these threads when they annoy me?
Really though, I think it is worry about what is going to happen. I think about all the negative Hillary stuff during the primaries that really hurt her during the general. I'm afraid it will happen again and we have another four years of Trump.

A lot of the negative stuff against Hillary was manufactured or overblown (e.g., Goldman Sachs speeches), and much of it went on looooong after she was clearly going to be the nominee. There’s a real difference between that and “holy shit, the guy leading over 20 other people in the polls bragged about being friends with segregationists.” We’re not exactly digging stuff up when he said this to reporters approximately 12 minutes ago.

Bernie and his people campaigned hard AGAINST Hillary up to and including the convention. They did this well AFTER she was the mathematical nominee. Despicable. And not at all what is happening in this thread.
Biden basically just said "White supremacists like me," and that's not something I want in the Dem nominee. Bernie basically just said "Voting for anyone but me makes you a corporate shill," which is exactly why so many Berners refused to vote for HRC. Which is a huge reason Trump is President.
I see their actions as a bigger threat to the party than anything we're saying here.
She won the popular vote. She probably won the electoral college, and even if she didn't, the reason she lost it isn't because well meaning democrats committed to electing the best democrat complained 18 months before the election that she had some poorly worded comments.*
Also Biden is a terrible candidate who can't stop saying dumb things and is running like its 1988. If he gets the nomination (and that's a big if), he'll generate so many more things to criticize that this one thing that happened during the primary won't be The Reason He Loses.
* and to be clear, what Biden said is way worse than a poorly worded comment.
Isn't the whole purpose of a primary to weed out people who do things like brag about hanging out with white supremacists? Shouldn't we want that discussed so that people hear it and know who they are choosing if they choose to vote for that person?
I think the real danger for Dems in 2020 is that everyone thinks they can game out the election with some kind of master strategy instead of simply picking the best candidate to represent the party and getting behind that person. Looking the other way on Biden's issues because folks like Chuck Todd say Biden is "more electable" is not respectful to the needs of the actual people whose lives will be very much impacted by anything and everything that occurs in the next administration.

There is nothing about Biden’s campaign except for these polls that will be ancient history by January that make me believe he will win the primary. Name recognition alone won’t help him sail to the nomination because this competition is fierce, and such missteps are going to hurt him. So no, I don’t see Biden having a good chance at all. Doesn’t mean he won’t win, just that he doesn’t feel like a sure thing to me by any stretch.

That poster, BTW, is ah-mazing! I'm also pretty intrigued by her job training program. That's kind of a unique idea. I don't feel like that gets talked about a lot.

This is a great video of Elizabeth Warren talking about redlining and our legacy of housing discrimination and how it continues to have pervasive effects today.
Some of these answers, man... Yes, I realize it’s a ridiculous, almost-entirely meaningless question (What is your favorite comfort food?), but Kamala wins ❤️

This was pretty fucking funny. The women's answers are the best. Kamala but also Kristen.
