Anyone use a good exfoliator? My skin needs help and I’m scared Ro is the stuff I used before pregnancy (drunk elephant tlc) and dr gross alpha beta pads. I read that the pads are safe while nursing, but I’m scared to use them. I’d love any recs.
Both of those are acid exfoliators and both are safe while nursing. The AHA was pregnancy safe and the BHA wasn't, but both types of acids are safe while nursing. I don't use BHAs myself because they're primarily for acne and that's not one of my issues, but I use AHAs and retinol all the time while nursing.
Btw, both of those products do the same thing, so if you want to save some money, you could probably drop one of those.
Postpartum nurses are totally underpaid and under appreciated. My nurse on the first night was legit a lifesaver. And the amount of bodily fluid she had to touch and clean. I called her boss in to rave about her. I am so thankful for her.
Yes! This baby was my first in a hospital and I was so surprised at how kind and helpful they were. I even sent dh home because all the things I thought I would need his help with were done by the nurses!
I'm really glad to hear this, our experience delivering DD was amazing and I am hopeful that with this next baby we will have equally as amazing of a experience . Our l&d nurse was absolutely a lifesaver for a scared ftm, I gave a stunning review when I received a survey on top of telling everyone who walked in to our room and asked how it was going that our experience was great!

I’m glad you’ve had good ones. I had a couple of good ones, a couple of meh ones, and one that was so heinous that she should never be allowed near patients. She didn’t give me my pain meds on schedule. When I realized I was in pain because I missed a dose, she said I had to ask for them. What in the actual fuck was that? Nobody else had made me ask for them, nobody ever told me I had to ask for them, and waiting until the last dose of meds wears off and you’re in active pain is a terrible way to manage acute post-surgical pain. She also bottle fed my baby when I said I would do it myself and then proceeded to feed her too fast, which caused her to barf everywhere. Honestly if I ever saw her again, I’d tell her to go fuck herself.

The hospital I delivered switched me to that pain management plan of asking for meds on the second day. It must be a thing, granted, they told me and weren’t just like, “Uh, why aren’t you asking for pain meds???”
When they told me that, I was like, ok, well, I’m asking you for another 48 hours of scheduled pain medication...

Thank you. I use one at a time, but those two are my favorite ones in general. I need to get my skin back!
My mom has babysat for date nights twice now, and both times DD had amazing nights sleep. Last night I dream fed her at 10:30 when we got home and she slept until 4am! Then up for the day at 7:30am. OMG, I feel so refreshed. I'm starting to think maybe she's not getting enough milk in the evening before bed and I should supplement with a bottle in the evening (or work to boost my supply). She had two 3.5 oz bottles with my mom while we were gone.
On the negative side, DS woke up with croup. Ugh. I'm paranoid the baby is going to catch it and I'm going to have 2 sick kids on my hand.
Yesterday and so far this morning, D is just not interested. Normally I can stick him on and "top off the tank" so to speak at any point. Now he's been up for 30+ minutes and refusing to latch. He hasn't eaten in almost 3 hours, I cant imagine he suddenly isnt hungry.

Mine went on strike around 12 weeks. It was terrible for a couple days and then gradually got better. I hope that if it's a strike it goes quickly! It was super stressful for me as a FTM (especially since I was on vacation).
My dad was here this weekend, so last night I went to bed at 9:30 as soon as I had both kids down. DS STTN (!) so I slept 9:30pm-5am when my boobs woke me up ready to explode. I pumped 5 oz or so because I was not about to wake a sleeping DS, although I knew he'd probably be up soon, so I left plenty for then. He got up at 6:15am, but fell back asleep after nursing... so I went back to bed too.
My dad gets up early so he entertained DD from when she got up around 7-7:30. I got to sleep again from 6:30 until 9:15 or 9:30 when DS got back up. I got 10.5 hours of sleep total per my Fitbit. Today is the first day in almost a week that I haven't had the headache + post nasal drip that I get as symptoms of pure exhaustion. It is amazing. I forget sometimes what it feels like to be rested!
D had a wake up at 345. C was then tossing around in his crib for a long while, only for D to start doing the same, so I never really fell back asleep. This might be a long day.
First night home last night. Couldn’t get DS down for a stretch longer than an hour until 5am when he did a 4 hour stretch. Blah! I hope he figures this out soon.
icedcoffee, I think that he can already do a 4 hour stretch is encouraging! Hopefully it transitions to a more opportune time. And my DH is useless MOTN too. I kicked him to the guest room and he’s taken exactly 0 MOTN wake ups with DD. He’s been regulated to 100% of the toddlers needs instead.
I’m home with a croup-y DS and needy DD today. Kudos to those of you who stay home with multiple kids. It’s so not for me.

I'm assuming it'll get better in a few months, but this stage isn't for me either! It's so stressful trying to tend to both of them at the same time, be one step ahead of everything, and try to keep caught up on dishes and laundry. Add in a teething toddler. Plus we started construction on the addition. It sucks. I'm just trudging along waiting for that 6 month mark when everything gets better.
D is suddenly very displeased about nursing on the right. Sometimes he will, other times he is pissed. Ear infection? Stubborn baby? Seems like we're at a 2:1 ratio between left and right as of Saturday (I only feed one side per session).

Both of my kids have overwhelmingly preferred the right side. Maybe my left boob has a weird nipple? Who knows lol. It helps when I use the football hold on the left instead. Sometimes it still gets refused though and I pump 🤷♀️

DD also prefers the right as of a couple weeks ago. So weird.

I’m thinking of getting a pump to leave at work as lugging the spectra S2 back and forth every day on top of my laptop and all the other baby stuff seems overwhelming. Anyone use the Spectra S9 plus?
Also, for those who pump in the car on the way to work, how do you do it, freemie cups?
I think it's time to drop the swaddle, probably next weekend. He is getting close to rolling/accidentally flailing himself over and he wants the freedom.
I'm starting to pick up on a schedule. There is a 9 am nap and a 4 PM nap. Usually a 700 cat nap to wake up and party until 10.
He refused to even latch on the bottle today. So that sucks.
Ugh, I’m sorry icedcoffee. I think things turned a corner re: nipple pain around day 10-14 for me. Hang in there.
I always nurse, mostly because is the fastest/easiest way to get her back to sleep, and ideally resets the clock. This is probably the wrong answer, but lazy lol.
With your pain, I’d probably try to rock for any wake ups around 1.5 hours or less.

I’m always inclined to nurse too because of the “resetting the clock” idea. By the time you rock them if it fails it’s time to nurse again anyway. Last night he was up hourly though. . My poor nipples!
My pedi prescribed APNO nipple cream yesterday. Hoping we can get that today and maybe it will help. He has such a strong latch. Every pedi he’s seen so far who has stuck their finger in his mouth comments on it.

I would have him checked for a tongue tie. Ds3 has a very strong suck as well and it was because he was overcompensating bc his tongue wasn’t working properly/strong enough. I hope your nipples feel better soon!
These are really good for sore nipples if you haven’t tied them
I need to really put some thought into routines/schedule because things are chaos with a 2.5 month old, kindergartner and preschooler. DH and I have made a list of what needs to be done when but things still seem more stressful than they need to be so I think we’re missing something.

I don't have any comments on the S9, but both times I have left a pump at work and it's a godsend not hauling it.
Now, my situation is complicated by the fact that H drops me off with the kids at daycare (and all their stuff) and I walk to work after drop off, so I really do not have an extra hand for a full pump bag on top of my stuff, the kids', and the kids themselves, but still. Pumps are heavy. I'd avoid that if you possibly can. Also the more stuff you have in your bag, the harder it is to notice if something is missing. Yesterday I somehow went to work without pump parts I don't even know how... I guess I somehow got thrown off by DS's PT app't in the morning. I ended up walking over to daycare to nurse in lieu of my afternoon pump because it was easier than going home to get my stuff, but eesh.

I’ve had every pedi we’ve met with check him and they all think he doesn’t have any tongue or lip ties. I have an appointment with a Lactation consultant for Monday but I really think his latch looks quite good. We will see. DS1 and I had similar issues but things felt better with a nipple shield. The shield doesn’t seem to be helping this time.
