Anyone have ideas why bedtime is taking so long the past 1.5 weeks? For example, we started last night at 730 and he didn’t fall asleep until 945. He’s not crying or anything. Just eyes wide open and staring. Every Njght since last Monday or Tuesday has been like this. So hard to get to sleep. We have a solid routine of massage, bath, pjs, feed, and rock. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

I think my baby is sleeping too much during the day which is messing us up at night. Basically if I’m holding him for more than 20 minutes and not moving around a lot, he’ll fall asleep. Same if I wear him. He’s asleep even faster in the car seat. Is this normal??? I usually feed, then diaper change to wake up, then rotate around playmat/bouncy seat/holding. I’m finding myself not taking him on errands or in the stroller unless he’s been up for a while because he’ll fall asleep. He’s almost 3 months.

We have a sitter! Kind of surprised me because he’s not big on rolling/tummy time, but dude was throwing a major hissy fit waiting for his lunch after we got back from grocery shopping, so I plopped him down on his play mat, and realized I was really pushing hard to get him to lay back. I let go, and was like, “Holy shit! He’s sitting!”
To which my 6yo said, “Mommy, we don’t say that word, come on!” LOL
DS will be 6 months old next weekend, and we’re also having family pics taken. Guess maybe we can get a few where he’s sitting on his own and with his sister!

I feel like at that point we were still kind of in the baby doesn’t have much of a nap schedule phase. So it sounds pretty normal to me. You could see if adding a little bit more of a routine around each of the sleep times helps isolate them a bit more instead of sleeping here, there, and everywhere, but I think it’s still par for the course to have a sleepy baby during the day. We didn’t get the “now is the time to make good sleep habits” lecture from the ped until the 4 month checkup.

You’re not doing anything wrong. This was both of my children from birth to 2 months or so. At around 2 months I started putting them down drowsy but awake and letting them fuss to sleep (15 minutes tops) and they both started sleeping well at that point. The rocking to sleep for hours on end was killing my soul. Hang in there!
Nervous first time mom here - can I nap while my baby sleeps in the swing? Or the bassinet part of the pack n play? My H goes back to work next week and I know I’m going to need to get some sleep during the day - baby doesn’t sleep very well in the Halo bassinest yet but loves the swing...

Do you mean the raised part of the bassinet in the PnP or the tiny thing that clicks on the top that I feel like they used to call the “napper?” Because if you just mean the actual bassinet insert, of course! Mine sleeps overnight in that, it’s flat and completely safe.
My kid tends to slide down in the swing so I wouldn’t, but I also let my kid nap sitting up on the boppy while I fall asleep next to her. So my answer is maybe. Ha. I allow my kid to be on an incline while I nap, yes. It would just depend for me on how well baby usually does in that device. I also slept frequently while my DS napped in the rock n play before those jerks recalled it.

Yes, the napped part of the pack n play - it’s at a bit of an incline, though not as much as the swing. He sleeps well in both for several hours (I’ve been awake the whole time) - doesn’t seem to slide down much, if at all.

Bassinet of the pack n play, sure. Swing, only if you are so tired that it’s not safe for you to stay awake anymore.
It's 4 am. D is wide awake and blowing raspberries at me. I've been up every two hours and have a stress headache. I have to get up at 5. This is lovely.
He slept wonderful the night before. I want that baby back!

fairfax, like others have said, the swing makes me nervous, so I don't typically leave L in there sleeping. Mostly because he cant hold his head up straight for long enough which I dont like. And the raised flat part of the PnP sure. That's what we have in our room instead of an actual bassinet. We never put the "napper" part on.
Yup, also in the no-sleep club over here. DD has had a cold for the past week so I think that's a big part of it, but man am I tired. She also seems to have supersonic hearing because no matter how quiet I am going to bed, or going to the bathroom MOTN she wakes up (and she's in her own room!). Granted we have a 100 year old house with squeaky floorboards and thin walls, but I'm legit tip-toeing and its still no use.

I think I'm getting a cold! Ugh, I woke up this morning with a slightly scratchy throat ☹ I'm not going to get L sick am I? I have no idea where I could have picked it up either. I haven't hardly gone anywhere ugh.

I’d probably be ok with this but depends on how you nap. I’m a shitty sleeper and don’t know that I could nap longer than an hour. If you’re one to crash for several hours, I probably wouldn’t. I wake up for every single noise.
We met with the PT/OT team from the county last week and DS qualifies for services for his torticollis. They also recommended that because of his flat spot we get him evaluated for a helmet. I took him to that evaluation yesterday, and they recommended that he get a helmet. Now we’re waiting to hear how much if anything insurance will pay for the helmet.
DS had his second night sleeping in his crib in his own room. I’m having all the feels that my last baby is all done with the bassinest.

So much snot and I think a touch of croup over here. He is sleeping fairly well considering but he’s so loud and sounds a bit wheezy when he breathes through his mouth.
DH is home with a wicked head cold as well so this is not surprising. Hopefully I can avoid the disease.
DS has started smiling at me (on purpose) in the past day though so that makes up for a great deal of trouble.
DD just had one of her best nights of sleep ever, coming on the heels of 2 really bad nights. I wish I could figure out some rhyme or reason about why she has a good night vs bad.

Add me to the list of sleep protesters. After 3 nights in a row of 6ish hours of sleep, L was up after 3 hours, then 1.5 hours and 1.5 hours and now I've been up for an hour and a half, ugh. Not a clue about why either.
We actually had an amazing night. I always stay up until her later nursing session and put her down just before 11. She slept until 3. Back down by 4 and slept until 7. If our pattern holds true that means she’ll be tough all day and have a terrible night tonight.
