What do you do with lost baby teeth? We are in the midst of baby tooth losing for DD and DS will probably start in about a year. It feels weird to throw them away, but it feels macabre to keep them.
I remember in HS, a friend's mom had saved her umbilical cord, first nail clippings, first haircut, all her teeth. It was creepy. What do you even do with souveneirs like those?
I held onto all of DD's hair from when they shaved her head. It took me years to throw it out. I'd just randomly find this bag of hair, say I should throw it out, be 100% convinced I threw it out, and then find it again.
Some are in a drawer in my nightstand because I stash them there and then toss them - oldest wanted her tooth back and it was a big drama and she doubled the tooth fairy money so I think that scarred me. But IDK whose are whose....which makes it super weird.
DH has handled tooth fairy stuff in our house and I believe he has kept the two DD has lost so far. He’s a bit of a hoarder though.
My dad died when I was 19. In the top drawer of his nightstand, I found a little card with a drawing of a mouth like the dentist has in your chart, with all my baby teeth glued in the appropriate spots. That’s part of why it’s hard to throw them away. As silly and weird as it sounds, the fact that my very pragmatic DAD, not my hoarding mother, was the tooth fairy and was sentimental about this one thing meant a lot to me.

I have all of DD's in a zip lock quart size bag in my underwear draw. I thin kit is easier to toss them in there than risk DD finding them in the trash can by accident. My parents gave me all my baby teeth after I had my wisdom teeth pull so I had a full set. It was weird and I think I may have tossed them when I moved out.
I'm keeping for now. This came in really handy when DD1 announced VERY LOUDLY to the ENTIRE FAMILY that she had placed her tooth IN THIS BOWL and NO ONE SHOULD THROW IT AWAY... and within 5 minutes, DH threw it away into disgusting raw-meat garbage and brought the garbage outside... I ran into my room and pulled out another tooth from my stash and announced that I'd found it!!! All while shooting daggers at DH.
Eventually I will throw them away. I also do not have their first haircut locks or a baby book or anything. Worst mom ever.
Also, and maybe really gross... but I put oldest DD’s umbilical cord on the window sill - it came off during a diaper change. The dog ate it. It was a relief because then I didn’t have to try to decide what to do with it.
