New guy's birthday is Friday. We have gone out on 3 awesome dates so far and have plans for this weekend, although what we're doing is TBD. I want to get him a small gift but I don't know what. I thought about some type of food delivery, but I don't know where I would have it delivered to, as he may or may not be at his office Friday and his house is out of any type of food delivery area.
I would keep it really small. If he likes traveling, maybe a new luggage tag? Or a thing you plug into the wall that has a bunch of outlets to plug in chargers? Not like a power strip but where it sits flush with the wall? Those are cool.
What if you just plan the date and offer to pay? Has he paid thus far? Have you split it? Then it's just a "Oh, I took you out" gift instead of having to buy an actual item.

mommyatty, the wall charger is a good idea. I had thought about one of those portable power chargers that is the size of a lipstick tube too, but I don't know if he has one.
twinmomma, he paid the first 2 times and I paid the last time. But I could plan something fun since he says he's a bad planner...lol
I’d totally do an experience gift - something out of the ordinary - locally I might do iFly (indoor skydiving), a concert at the Arboretum, or a kayak trip and gourmet picnic.
I agree with 2chatter, and would rent some kayaks and pack a picnic lunch in said kayaks and have a water date. You said you wanted to kayak so perfect date and if you plan and do all the ordering than I say a cool gift. You could write up a fancy coupon that says kayak picnic date on your next free Saturday.
mustardseed2007, our kayaks are sea kayaks so they have a couple hatches that are watertight and stuff can be stored. I'm pretty sure most of the rec boats I see around town have at least one compartment to store stuff. I even pack a lunch and put it in a dry bag and carabiner it to my paddle board along with my water bottle. DH would love to do the 5 day San Juan kayak/camping tour. Everything you need for the 5 days is stored in your boat!

I went with the experience gift. I booked a sunset cruise on a catamaran. It says to bring snacks and beverages along, so I'm not sure what I'll pack. Maybe picnic type stuff or maybe just dessert.
Thanks for your suggestions! I will keep them in mind for future dates.
The kayak trip is definitely something we'll do in the future. I have a kayak and he has a canoe. We can either rent another kayak or just go out on a lake.
