I’m doing allergy shots, and I had a goofy reaction (my ears got really itchy). Since that’s considered a systemic reaction, I had to get an epinephrine injector to bring when I get shots. My doc (who is about 85 and cheap as all get out) called in a prescription for Auvi-Q, which is an alternative to Eli-Pen. Guys, it’s free if you have commercial insurance. They deliver it to your house, too.
Anyway, a mom of a kid in DD’s class is a pediatrician and she said it’s all she prescribes because she likes the trainer that comes with it and walks you through how to administer it. So I guess it can also be used for kids.
Anyway, I remember Epi-pen expense discussions on here before so thought I’d share.

We have Auvi-Q for our son, so yes it’s good for kids. We ended up with it b/c kids epi-pens were on backorder. I like the trainer aspect of it especially when we are leaving him with family/sitters.
Thanks! I've been meaning to research this while I have time now instead of waiting for the week before school starts to stock up. This was a good reminder!
Yes, we went back to auviQ two years ago. They are falling all over themselves with top notch customer service because of the massive recall they had and because they see a major opportunity with all the pricing controversy around the Epipen brand name pen. Two years ago, we got four pens for free!
