Just the other day I was wondering if there was going to be another Woodstock since its 50 years since the first one and Woodstock '94 was so huge. Now I know why I heard almost nothing about planning. It's supposed to happen starting August 16th but no tickets have been sold yet and now there's no venue.
So this is like Fyre Festival but just without people traveling to the Bahamas for cheese sandwiches and FEMA tents. I'm really curious if they're going to still try to pull this off somewhere with thousands of people needing to buy tickets or just cancel it outright to avoid a Fyre-like embarrassment.
This is localish to me (within a couple of hours away), and it has been on the news weekly for months it seems! On again, off again, on again, off again. What a bust!

I'm in NYC so not local to me, but not far either and I'm wondering if I just somehow tuned out every piece of news about it since January when it was announced.

Same here. I think it’s still off. I have not heard a thing recently.

Watkins Glenn Dumped them in April and they never sold tickets. It’s been a very clear disaster for awhile that’s been fun to watch, but thankfully, only people involved in the planning are really affected.
There’s still a smaller Yasgur Rd Reunion happening to celebrate the anniversary
The Woodstock 50 festival will relocate from upstate New York to Columbia, Maryland in a last-ditch effort to save the beleaguered event, Bloomberg reported. Organizers confirmed to New York Times that the festival will now take place at Merriweather Post Pavilion, which is about an hour’s drive from Washington D.C. — and about four-and-a-half hours from the original Woodstock site in Bethel, New York — on August 16th through 18th.

How weird to move it to an entirely new state (and not just across a nearby state line). That will completely change peoples' travel plans, though I suppose without tickets in hand, it would have been unwise to make a whole lot of travel plans.
I wonder if it will even happen? I feel like they need to figure this out more than 3 weeks in advance of the show?
I'll be curious to see who they get to play, if anyone, at this point.
My son is in a music camp this week. The theme is Woodstock. They have their closing concert this afternoon. This might be the closest we get to a Woodstock 50 concert. 😂
My company is headquartered in Columbia and our parent company is Dentsu. Just waiting for us to be “volunteered” for something to help pay off the settlement lol

Interesting move. Watkins Glen and Vernon Downs are localish to me so its been in our new nonstop lately. Too many breaking news stories that they were once again denied their application. Had no idea about the move. Seems like a lot to pull off in a short time, will be interesting to see what happens.

They've also scheduled it the same weekend as another major annual music festival in the area that's really well organized, so I don't expect many locals to hold out for Woodstock either.

School of Rock?
no. I’m not even sure the official name of the camp past “rock camp”, as DSs teacher calls it.

The whole thing is weird and I have to believe it'll be a disaster. It's way too late to be still working out location for that big an event, though at least Merriweather Post Pavilion has the permanent infrastructure in place already versus having to build it all out. They may be able to pull off the event itself, but the attendance is probably going to be disastrously low. It sounds like several of the artists and headliners have already bailed. Who is going to play this thing that the organizers think will be a big enough draw to get people there on that short of notice?

I just started hearing about this locally, and apparently, the show was originally slated to start 8/16. There's already another concert scheduled for Sat the 17th at Merriweather - Noel Gallagher and Smashing Pumpkins. So if Woodstock is coming they best be scheduling around that because otherwise I will not be amused.

Having been there many times, including once post-remodel, I feel like Merriweather is pretty small for Woodstock. I don't see this going well.
I guess Columbia is a good location for all the hippies that sold out in the 80s. They can hit the mall before the show!
One of the few malls in America that hasn't died yet!
I guess you not been to Paramus, NJ lately. The shopping mall capital is still going strong and adding on to the malls. At current date there are 4 freestanding malls. I don’t think Paramus has gotten the memo that malls are dead.
I went to Woodstock 94 and 98. I will not be attending this one.

Oh, for sure, if we are talking the original Woodstock, or even any of the subsequent ones, it’s way too small for something like that. But given the total shitshow that is this current incarnation, I’m not too worried that more people are going to show than they can handle. I guess we’ll see what the actual lineup turns out to be, but as of now, my prediction would be that those organizers/backers lose their shirts on this.
Woodstock 50 organizers are determined to make the festival happen next month. In fact, they're so determined that they're now reportedly making the three-day concert free. As TMZ reports, organizers are planning to release tickets in the coming days free of charge and the event will now be listed as a benefit concert, with attendees encouraged to donate to their favorite causes. As for how they plan to pay event staff and other costs, VIP tickets will be available for a charge to try and bridge the financial gap.
While this is all great for attendees, there's still a problem: As of now, Woodstock 50 doesn't have a lineup.
I kind of want to check out this shitshow for a few hours, but I also feel like the bathroom situation might be problematic? I dunno. It's in TWO WEEKS.

If it's a shitshow you can just walk out and go to the mall...
There's a fun restaurant in a location you don't even have to cross the street to get to. Fairly recent addition if youre familiar with the venue but haven't been in a while.

I was thinking about finding a Nando's while I'm down there. I mean, basically I'd drive to Maryland JUST for Nando's, and this "event" would be an added bonus.

There's one in Laurel about 10 mi to the South along rt.1, and one at Arundel Mills about 10 mi north along 295. I'd say you really should and we should hang out, but I'm out of town that weekend biking. (Shake out ride for my big trip)

There are two in Baltimore. I live really close to one, so if you're ever down this way let me know and I'll meet you there
The good thing about Merriweather is that it's an actual concert venue, so I wouldn't worry about bathrooms. They are used to having a full house. I've only been there once, but it was a full show and the lines for bathrooms were manageable.
