Aww, I hope that he didn't get fired because of this. I guess it's on the side of being unprofessional, but the emails he sent were sweet and supportive, and he sounds like a guy I'd like to work for.
However, if his actual job performance is what is contributing to many issues with services in Iowa...that's another story.
I don't care if it's unprofessional. It's adorable and positive messaging. Haters gonna hate. (And this article was a much cuter read than the one I originally saw, so thanks for posting.)
And on another note, The Hate You Give is an awesome Young Adult read. (yes, Tupac related. lol.)

I love this guy and his Tupac love. I also loved what he said on NPR about breaking down the rap music stereotype.
My favorite comment was "Who is setting up his gofundme? I’ll totally donate to tide him over until he can land in a more tupac-friendly environment!" LOL.

This is local to me. I saw an acquaintance adding a comment explaining further:
He wasn’t fired for the Tupac stuff. He’s been very open about his love for Tupac’s message and music for many, many years. He used it as a way to connect with the communities of youth he was serving. When he taught at Drake he would have a special lesson once a year discussing what can be learned from Tupac’s music. I know for a fact he has sent other emails to all DHS staff about Tupac Day in the past. It was just poor timing that he latest email came within days of being asked to resign.
The longtime Drake University professor took over the $7 billion agency as it navigated multiple scandals and dealt with low morale. Reynolds, who appointed and praised Foxhoven in June 2017, told him last month that she decided to “go in a different direction,” AP reported.
It’s unclear what, if any, farewell message Foxhoven sent to his team. But, if he had a chance, he might’ve chosen the final bar from one of Shakur’s seminal songs:
“And it’s crazy, it seems it’ll never let up. But please, you gotta keep ya head up.”
