Everything is awful.
The way that people seem to be more than happy to take self-destructive actions (whether for their own interests, or for their country) based on hate and racism and selfishness and making other people suffer is just...WTF.
Honestly I've had the thought cross my mind that maybe it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if an asteroid came and wiped us out. Everything seems to be FUBAR everywhere.
Fuck. Is anyone watching the show Years and Years? It's becoming frighteningly accurate. Vivian rook becoming fictional PM reminds me of Johnson. Fucking scary.

I'm afraid to watch it. I have it downloaded. Scared.

I don't think we will need to rely on an asteroid. I'm pretty sure that we will wipe ourselves out soon since we won't do anything to try to prevent climate change.

Honestly, I'd prefer the asteroid. Climate change death is going to be slow and painful in a myriad of ways.
And Donald Trump is president. Which still blindsides me when I think about it. Jesus Christ. I can't help but think about someone waking up from a 20-year coma in this hellscape.

ON a friends FB feed, he posted an article and was basically like "My GOP friends - do you have problems with this?". And it turned into a long discussion/ back and forth with one guy.
This guy doesn't feel Trump is racist and for the people who say "all Trump supporters are racist", he's basically disappointed that we have such a low view of MILLIONS of people who voted for Trump.
Um... dude. Yeah, we do. MILLIONS of people continue to support and EXCUSE Trump and his continually horrific actions and words.
This guy, here and there, would make a statement that i'd think "o.k. - you're intelligent and I agree with that one part", but then he'd follow it up with some asinine defense of Trump!
It's astounding the mental gymnastics his supporters do to defend and excuse him.

It's like the UK said "Oh hey America, we too have a buffoon born in New York City with awful hair who will be a terrible leader for our country too!" Sigh.
I follow the r/Scotland subreddit, and, while I realize it is Reddit, so, not completely reliable, it has been interesting to read a lot of the news reports about the independence referendum gaining steam. I don't think Boris being elected will make this any better as he has made some pretty anti-Scots statements I believe. What a world we live in.
And, to the PP who talked about Years and Years. My god, yes. I feel like it is pretty likely that we are watching a documentary from the future or something. It is awful, yet it seems like we are mere footsteps from many of the "big" events they talk about.
Actually - as I look at twitter, I am seeing videos of protests in Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. There is flooding in Broolyn (apparently the water is toxic too) - so, maybe we are not steps away after all.
Please note that we did not vote for him. The Tories were in power and May stepped down so only Conservative party members got to vote for a new leader (less than 1% of the country). I am a Lib Dem member so I voted for our new leader (not sure she'll be great but we'll see).
The 17% who don't mind & the 7% who don't care probably are either low information or non-voters (people who think it doesn't matter who is PM cause life will always suck for them). The 28% who are pleased/delighted are probably the hard-core Brexiteers who think BJ will bring along a no-deal Brexit, thus screwing everyone in the country (cause if their life sucks, so should everyone elses).
