I started a new job yesterday where I WFH. For the time being I have to use our guest bedroom to work. No desk yet - MH is graciously building me one and can only do it in his spare time - so I have to sit on the bed for now. My back hurts.
I’m debating if I should even just head out to Panera or the library to work, so I can sit upright.

Having dinner with Vespasia and wawa tonight. We’re going to have margs and all the delicious Mexican food...ON A TUESDAY. I just realized it’s is taco Tuesday. It’s kismet.

I am curious to see what the Floridian thinks of the DC heat and humidity. When I first moved to Maryland I used to laugh at people who thought it was humid. Now I am constantly melting.

For the last 5 days I have been getting calls and texts from random numbers who all appear to be guys who think I'm their girlfriend.
It started late last week with a guy who was texting me things like "Good morning sunshine." I blocked the number after he called me at midnight one night. Over the weekend I started getting texts from another guy. He called me twice at 1:30am this morning, and I ripped him a new one and told him not to call me again. This morning I got texts from yet a third number, asking me "What's your fucking problem?" Blocked that number too.
WTF is going on? Is someone messing with me? Did my number get posted on some website for weirdos?

Someone might be using your number as their fake number? I don't know, that's weird.

If they are, then they get around. The numbers have had Maine, New York, and Florida area codes.

Someone beat us to making an offer on the dream house. I'm crossing my fingers it falls through. In the meantime, we made an offer on another house today, so we'll see. One way or another, I'm getting away from the vigilante cowboy neighbor.

I love our new dog walker. She's taken some adorable photos of our dog (way better than the ones I had), and is so effectively wearing her out that she's calm and snoozing on the couch right now instead of jumping on me and demanding another walk when it's hot as balls outside.
I just finished the spreadsheet for Dare to Run. YAY! I was worried when I lost the information last week and had to start over (and then was too nice to kick my husband off the computer in the office last Saturday so he could watch videos. Yes, we're old. I was using a desktop. Because I don't consider an iPad suitable for this kind of thing and he didn't buy me a Surface...and our monitor in the office is so freaking awesome that even the computer repair techs want to call to repair it (not really, but the last guy was almost sobbing at not having to minimize a window to get to another, that type of thing. lol.)

Can you not just sit at your kitchen table?
I’m not the only one home during the day (@) and it’d be way too distracting.
My email address is my first initial and last name. I keep getting emails for a male who has the same first initial as me and the same last name (it’s quite unusual). It’s mostly emailed receipts which doesn’t make sense. Why give a fake email for a receipt when you you have the choice to decline an email receipt.
Maybe he is legitimately giving an email thinking it is his...
I have to go to a meeting to plan what our department is going to do to raise money for the UW this afternoon. I hate employee giving time. My "I don't donate to them" stance never goes over well.

I hate that time of the year at work. I won’t donate either. Thankfully since I’m non-exempt (and paid a lot less than exempt), they don’t hound me too much.

yeah part of the problem is I am exempt, though I make a lot less than the managers who run the giveback events.
I hate it in part because every department has to run their own event one day to raise money and the cost falls on the employee. So one unit is doing taco salads and the cost of all the ingredients falls on the hourly staff. They want 10 lbs of meat, that's so expensive. And then you're expected to buy the items the other departments sell on their days.

Wow! That’s a huge expectation! I can’t imagine you’re the only one unhappy with that set up.
I don’t know if anyone remembers my posts from four years ago where we were trying to find a home for my late FIL’s cat because there was no way we could safely keep her. I got the cat spayed and microchipped before we started trying to adopt her out: pandce.proboards.com/thread/491025/cat-people-advice-needed
A coworker of MH’s (they don’t work closely) eventually agreed to take the cat home to her family. MH was very above board with the coworker that they would need a lot of patience dealing with the cat and also that we were not in a position to take the cat back once they took her in, and CW agreed.
MH saw CW a few times following the adoption and she always said they were OK with the cat, although a few months ago she mentioned someone in the household having allergies. MH never initiated the conversations and always cut the convos short because he didn’t want her to ask us to take the cat back.
Today I got a call from animal control saying a cat had been abandoned in a carrier outside a business. They scanned for a microchip which led them back to me. They also said someone had called animal control to report the cat had been dumped and they believed the call came from the person who’d owned her but they didn’t have proof ... when I said the name of the person we’d given the cat to the animal control person said “ah ok” (I guess the name I gave matched their caller ID?) and said they’d call me if they had any questions.
I’m really mad at the CW for not keeping the cat like she promised or at least bringing her to the shelter. I also feel bad for the cat, but there’s absolutely no way we can take her ourselves. I’m hoping that living with the CW for four years mellowed the cat out enough where she can be adopted out to a new home.

It's hated by many people, but the old school manager who runs the event loves it, so it will stay like this until she retires I think.

I am the first female arborist in my city. I was recently put in charge of a big municipal project. I removed 10 trees, 12 stumps, pruned dozens of trees by myself, and even coordinated with a volunteer group to meet my deadline. When it concluded, my boss said he'd "heard" that I did a good job. Today my boss honored my male co-worker for removing one stump on that project.
Today my employee filed a grievance against me because I wrote him up for the 2nd time in 2 years. He completely deserved it; if this were private industry I would have fired him the first time. He did not file a grievance against my male co-worker, who has written him up 3 times in 5 months.
