We are leaving in 10 days for a family vacation and we are going to let the older kids use the iPad on the plane and in the car. They haven't really been exposed to much on our iPads or phones yet. I have no idea where to even start looking for age appropriate games that aren't $$. I would like the games to be more learning based as a way to get DD1 to practice reading and math. I found Prodigy (looks outdated?) and ABC Mouse in a quick google search. ABC Mouse has a 30 day trial period. Any recommendations? DD1 is going into 2nd grade and DD2 is entering 4K.
We like Starfall. I hate Prodigy, but the kids do Zearn Math. They have another app from school for reading, but I am blanking on the name. The school provides the class and password. ETA- it's Raz Kids. Does your school provide any?
I also downloaded a random Lego app. It is called Lego Juniors. Less educational but I guess there is building/ space planning.
DD has access to Raz Kids too. She loves it. Both kids get to play ABC Mouse at school and love it.
On vacation, we generally let the kids watch and play what they want. I download a lot of Muppet Babies for plane rides. Plus crayons and paper/workbooks/coloring books, puzzle erasers, little cars, and little toys like Hatchimals.
No app recommendations, but my DD gets carsick when using the iPad in the car - maybe just something to watch out for. She doesn't have motion sickness issue otherwise.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
