Interesting and informative quiz! There are 8 categories, and you rank four options based on which you think are the most effective at fighting climate change.
That was interesting! I didn't realize how much potential there is in wind power, and while I knew how massive the effects of the tropical forests are, I wasn't aware of how efficient bamboo can be at carbon capture. ...Though now that I go back and look at the numbers, the difference between the two is nearly nine-fold! We really need better protections and renewal for the rainforests (F-ing Bolsonaro!)
It's interesting that we hear so much about some of the things that have a much smaller impact (plane flights, recycling, green roofs, etc) when things like wind power and food waste have such a massive effect and relatively little airtime.

I did worse than I thought, haha. I'm actually really surprised about the bamboo, I always thought it was really invasive and we shouldn't plant it outside of it's natural environment. I guess the benefits outweigh the negatives.

This was a weird quiz. Obviously where the total values were based upon savings if adopted US-wise by all people, so some of my guesses were wildly wrong because of the scale of the impact.
Yes yes yes to AC reduction being huge. Heating and cooling buildings is brutal for the environment and one of the biggest contributors (particularly in Canada).
Drawdown is a great book, tied for my top pick of last year, and it’s one of the few books I actually own since I’m so big on using the library. I should have done better on the quiz, but twice I mixed up reduced food waste and plant rich diet, but they’re right next to each other for overall effectiveness.
I did pretty well, but some of the questions were too vague to really know. More wind and more solar are great for cutting greenhouse gases...but the relative score of course depends on how much of each!
Wow, only 25%, though I got all the empowering women right.
Interesting about electric cars. I have always been a bit skeptical about electric motors simply because they need to be recharged using electricity... which often involves burning coal and such. If I knew my power was being provided by sustainable sources like wind farms then it would make a lot more sense.

Which province are you in? Right now, the electric grids in Quebec, BC, NFLD, PEI, and Manitoba are all at 96%+ renewable sources. So going to electric cars in those areas has an enormous benefit when it comes to GHG reduction. Other provinces are a mix. ON and NB are decent if you consider nuclear power to be generally clean (other than spent uranium). NS, SK, AB and the territories it wouldn’t make an appreciable difference to drive an electric car, until such a time as the grid greens up more.

I have also wondered how green an electric car actually is if it is technically powered by something like a coal burning energy source. I have only come across that specific info once and am not sure where it was (maybe Drawdown). Anyway, the takeaway was that, even taking into consideration the burning of coal to power the car, an electric car is still cleaner overall than an internal combustion engine vehicle.

Yeah I'm in NS. Looking at the NS Power website it looks like about 80% of electricity is from burning coal. Lots of wind farms have popped up recently so hopefully that continues.
