Now that we are redoing our entire kitchen, I have to thing about alllll these things I never thought about before. I'm ordering my faucet with the dish soap dispenser, but now I'm thinking about hand soap. Where does that go? When you look at pictures online, of course they are always shown without the everyday items (dish rack, etc).
Here's my question...if you use hand soap in addition to dish soap, where is it? Did you buy a second built in dispenser or did you buy a pretty hand soap dispenser to put on your counter? If you don't have a hand soap dispenser, why not? Do you just wash your hands with dishsoap?

I remember researching this and asking the board when we did our counters ~7 yrs ago. Make sure you get a good built in set up - I've seen mixed reviews on them, including the dispenser falling through the counter or breaking.
We opted for non built in, we have a glass soap dispenser in a caddy w/sponges, and a decorative hand soap one (which I probably don't need since I tend to wash my hands w/hand soap in the bathroom).
I agree, kitchens are way more cluttered IRL than in pics.

simpsongal, after throwing a question about faucet brands to the group, we are going with a Delta, as they seems widely recommended (along with Moen). The dispenser is sold in the set so it's also a Delta. I just didn't know if I should buy a second separately or not.
we're uncivilized ... we have the plastic bottles on the counter
LOL. Then we are as well as that's what we have now.
ahhh, but you have plans to better yourself LOL we put in a new counter and opted for no dispenser! (I just don't like them, and I don't relish the idea of crawling under the sink to refill the bottle).

I don’t have to crawl in to refill. The dispenser gets pulled up and you refill from there.
I'm stuck with what the old owners had, so I keep a bottle of dish soap and a pretty dispenser of handsoap on the counter.
If/when we redo the kitchen, we'll pass on the built in soap dispenser. I'm not a fan. Maybe I've only ever dealt with crappy ones, but they're just mostly annoying. My mom has a built in soap dispenser... and still uses a bottle on the sink. Same with the vacation condo we were at last week.
I’m the barbarian who washes my hands with dish soap in the kitchen. 😉
I feel like the faucet gets gross enough, I don’t want another built in fixture to scrub. I just have this dish soap dispenser from Oxo. tinyurl.com/y57bv92o

We had a Delta with a built in satin nickel finish soap dispenser before and you had to stay on top of drying it off all the time or the finish wears off. It was totally plastic or some garbage metal as compared to the faucet.
We skipped the built in this time and I went and got a pretty bottle for our dish soap. I use dish soap to wash my hands but that’s mostly because I am generally allergic to all liquid soaps except for Dawn so I would prefer to use that than some $$ fancy hypoallergenic stuff. I keep my own bar soap in all the bathrooms.
We are probably getting new counters next year and I need to think about this. I hadn't really considered it because I always thought that soap dispensers would clog and break before long and I didn't want a hole in my nice new counter for something that won't work longterm.
But it sounds like they perform pretty well these days?
Either way, I use dish soap to wash my hands in the kitchen, always have So I would only want one dispenser.

Yeah, I ended up doing some additional research and the dispenser is totally plastic. Now I'm leaning towards not doing a built in...

I did not want to mess with a built in, so we have this glass soap dispenser on the counter. I actually have one for each bathroom sink, too. I love them. I only like foaming soap, and it took me forever to find this dispenser. There’s also a version for normal non-foaming soap.

I bought a built-in but then the granite guys said they were worried that my granite was too fragile for more than three holes, and so we went with the main faucet, the air switch for the garbage disposal, and the instant hot water dispenser which I LOOOOOVE.
We have dish soap in a fancy bottle, but they do seem to break regularly. I'm wondering if a built-in would be more sturdy or would just make me more angry if and when it breaks because it would cost more than $10 to replace. :-) I think I still have the one I bought lying around if you want it! It was a brushed nickel finish.
We use the built-in dispenser for hand soap (it's MUCH more frequently used than dish soap during any given day here). We keep dish soap in the cabinet. No clogs, easy to top fill, we're happy with it.

Thank you for the offer! We are doing a champagne bronze finish though.
For some reason I just don’t love built in dispensers, they just seem limiting? Also most of the ones I encounter are empty. We just use a nice but inexpensive marble/wood stand that holds both kinds of soap/candle/plant. Even though it’s kind of a lot of things I don’t think it looks cluttered?
When we renovated our first house we installed a sink with a built in dispenser and it stopped working within the first six months. Then it just became another thing to keep clean. So in our new house we chose not to have the built in dispenser and instead just keep the dish soap in the cabinet under the sink (we have a dishwasher so rarely hand wash dishes) and we have a separate hand soap dispenser that sits on the corner to the left of the faucet.

LOL. We go 50/50 and have a pretty dispenser for dish soap because we buy the giant Costco jug of that, but the hand soap is just the plastic bottle. It's usually a pretty bottle at least?
Ours is from delta and it technically has the soap dispenser but we filled it with hand soap instead. I was finding I was using going through dishsoap like crazy using the dispenser so I keep a bottle on my counter with the scrub brush for dishes. I know it defeats the purpose of the dish soap dispenser but it works for us.
Yep! We have the same color/style in a wall mounted version too and i love them both.
Awesome! That's the one we are getting
I just got this sink installed, too
I asked this same question about the hand soap and basically everyone said that people use dish soap for their hands. So we just got the faucet, dish soap dispenser and then the air switch for the garbage disposal... I feel like I lost brain cells trying to space everything out before they cut the countertop.

I have a small simple human dispenser for hand soap. I use the integrated dispenser for dish soap, which the builder installed. I don’t think I’ve ever used one before but so far so good.
