I can't believe this isn't satire. How self-hating must you be to endorse this person, ESPECIALLY in light of what's transpired in the last 6 months?
Trump met his commitments to LGBTQ Americans. He has our endorsement.
The president’s tax cuts have benefited LGBTQ families and helped put food on their tables. His opportunity zones have helped create new LGBTQ-founded small businesses. The administration’s aggressive negotiations on trade deals have preserved LGBTQ jobs. His hard line on foreign policy has protected LGBTQ lives. What benefits all Americans benefits the LGBTQ community, as we cross every racial, socioeconomic, religious and cultural divide.
Notice the race of all the people in the photo. If they are LGBTQ, they are only white LGBTQ.
Exactly! And this quote stood out to me:
And in an extraordinarily uplifting moment, Thiel uttered the words for the first time, “I am proud to be gay. I am proud to be a Republican. But most of all, I am proud to be an American.” He was met with thunderous standing applause from the body of the Republican Party.
Quelle surprise: thunderous applause for a rich, cisgender white guy. You think they'd give two shits if he were anything but white?
Also, if Peter fucking Thiel is your poster boy, you are already so far gone.

My SIL is one of them. I've asked her how she could love Trump so much and her answer (paraphrasing) is that all the LGBTQ+ rights in the world won't matter if our borders aren't secure and terrorists pour over the borders and kill us all. So this is why I do not speak with her anymore. Yes, she's white.

What kills me about this line of thinking is that, no, I suppose all the rights in the world won’t matter if terrorists kill us all. But like, where is the proof that the GOP is why terrorists haven’t killed us all? I’m old enough to remember when Barack Obama ordered the killing of Osama bin Laden! There wasn’t a rash of terrorist attacks under either of the two Democratic presidents we’ve had in my lifetime!
Now that I am done laughing, in all seriousness, give me a break. There is no evidence of an actual economic pick-me-up stemming from the tax cuts that is more than a tiny temporary blip on the radar. All evidence is to the contrary and all economists are saying the same. And the OZ legislation?! LOLZFOREVER on that right now. There is basically no data for the OZ program yet and close to zero evidence of the actual dollars that have been deployed by Opportunity Zone Funds at this point. Two years into the program. What a load of BS.

This is what kills me. This is why the abortion voters I can at least wrap my head around. There, you actually get what you vote for. The conservatives who claim to be "pro strong national defense," or my other favorite, "limited government spending and balanced budget" make absolutely no sense to me. The first is not a thing the GOP has a monopoly on and the latter is just too dumb to even acknowledge.
I think this is why the conservatives never did well on this board. Most were "socially liberal," national defense/fiscal conservative voters. And I just don't have patience for people who like their deficits with a side of dead women and dumb ass wars.

I mean, to be literal about it, he met my expectations for us (in that I expected him to do literally nothing for the LGBs, and he made life hell for trans people) but whatever commitments he allegedly made were just words that I promise he doesn’t remember saying.
I’m getting real damn tired of people just making shit up in this administration with no fact checkers and no accountability. This level of gaslighting is unreal.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
I keep starting to make a "joke" about how the only thing the LGBTQ community has to thank trump for is that they haven't been top of his list because he's been too busy persecuting Hispanic people and Muslims.
And then I delete the jokey part because it's not funny. Because it's actually happening.

My turn to be honest: the Trump administration has been worse on LGBT rights than I thought they would be, and I knew it would be bad.
The worst attacks have been super subtle but extraordinarily damaging. The way they’ve bundled in attacks on LGBTQ people along with other priorities in the new “religious freedom” rules. The way they have rolled back nondiscrimination protections. Asking courts to invalidate legal arguments that would cement interpretations of federal law that confer protections for basic shit. It goes far and above what was promised. And more attention has been paid to it than I would have expected - to the point where I’d consider these actions to be among the higher priorities for the administration.

There really is no end to their hatred.
When you look at it all together it's impossible to not see it as setting the stage for some deeply fucked up and way more drastic steps.

Yes. It is pretty panic-inducing to see them paving the way to genocide so deliberately.
