POOF! was born on his due date Thursday afternoon via repeat c-section. I had gestational diabetes with this pregnancy and a c/s with my first son (breech) so they didn’t let me go past my due date and wouldn’t induce me. I really wanted a VBAC but it didn’t end up happening. I even had the doctor check my cervix 5 minutes before I walked into the OR. LOL. Still not dilated at all. C/s was fine, but as they were pulling him out I got really nauseous. They were pulling SO hard. Way harder than I remember with DS1. I told the anesthesiologist but by the time she got the meds ready it passed so we skipped them. I was fine in recovery too although I felt super drugged out. I mentioned this a few times to the nurse because I could barely keep my eyes open. I also didn’t feel that way with my first c/s. When they were rolling me from recovery to my mom and baby room shit got real. I was so nauseous I was begging them to stop rolling me. I started to feel better once they got me to my room, but it didn’t last long and I vomited a few hours later. That sucked. I basically missed DS1 meeting the baby because my face was in a puke bag. . Thankfully some zofran and ice chips and I felt better not too much later.
Other than some shoulder gas pain recovery has been ok. DH really wanted me to go home after night 2 but I refused. The nurses are spoiling me here and I want the extra night before DS1 wants my attention at home. I’ve been sending H home each night and it’s been fine other than some frustrating cluster feeding last night.
DS2 is a cutie and other than some latch issues that I hope we worked out this evening he’s been pretty chill too. He’s super cute and I’m glad he’s all mine. He did have some weird heartbeats today so he got an EKG. It came back mostly normal, but they want to repeat tomorrow. Something about a slowdown when he was sleeping? Pedi told me not to worry so I’m not going to yet. LOL. We go home tomorrow.
Congratulations! I was thinking of sending DH home at night when I'm in the hospital. I'd really rather not see him laying there asleep while I'm up every couple of hours being checked on or feeding the baby.

I highly recommend it. With DS1 my H was so useless in the hospital and it was so infuriating that with this one I kicked him out at night. We live 15 minutes from the hospital so if I needed him I could just call. My hospital has a nursery from 11pm-6am so I sent the baby for 2 long stretches of about 3 hours each night. I slept better. H slept better. Z slept better. No regrets at all. Would do the same with future kids if I had them.
Last night I watched Friends, the nurse brought me ice cream and we just chilled. So nice.
Congrats on your new tiny one (and on no longer being diabetic)! I’m sorry the VBAC you hoped for didn’t happen, and the nausea sucks. I hope it’s fully over for you. Then you can truly enjoy all the carbs. Yay bagels!
H never stayed with me overnight with DD. With DS I asked him to stay the first night although I sent him home the 2nd. My hospital didn’t have a nursery, and I struggled a little to get in and out of bed by myself at first while holding DS and gingerly sitting on my stitches. I’m done having babies now, but I’m so over the whole nursery elimination thing. Whether you’re recovering from surgery or an exhausting labor, mama needs sleep at night!
