How crazy is this idea? I really like this bed, except that all the online reviews say it's more of a yellow-cream than true white. I don't mind a little off-white, but I don't think I want something yellow-y. Would I be crazy to order it with the plan to paint it right off the bat to make it a bit whiter if it is too yellow? I'm thinking I wouldn't need multiple coats or anything if I'm just trying to brighten the white. Would just regular latex paint go on okay (after a little roughing up of the current finish) if the original finish is oil-based?
Just looked at the review photos of it.. my guess is lighting and the colors of the room are really going to effect how yellow vs. cream it looks, but I'd be a hard pass on it based on those photos. I like the original photo.
On a personal level, I don't like painting and I'm too much of a perfectionist to buy it new and repaint it. If I found it for $100 at a garage sale, I'd definitely consider it. But for $560.. meh. I'm sure there are people who are much more confident in their time/willingness/ability to repaint it with confidence though, and you may be one of them.

Are you confident the material of the bed is one you can easily paint? I would personally pass as I wouldn't want to take the chance on something over $500.

I am doubtful the quality is worth a further investment of painting. I’d keep looking.
I was struggling to find what I was looking for DS bed. Then someone posted on my local fb mom group about a local woodworker. It was exactly what I wanted, even customizing the height, cheaper than PBK, and much much better quality.
