I started intermittent fasting today. Without reading enough first since turns out women are supposed to start at 14 hours max and I went straight to 16. Lol. Oops. Now to figure out a way to motivate myself to exercise.
mommyatty, DH does that. He usually doesn’t eat till lunch or sometimes dinner time (he gets up for work at 4:45 am). He thinks it helps him focus.
I just signed up to be co-room parent for DS1’s class. I really like the other room parent and she’s a SAHM, so hopefully we’ll balance out to her doing more of the hands on, during the day stuff and me doing more emailing, planning, and weekend stuff. I’m probably insane to do this with work travel and 3 little kids. I told her to totally tell me if she wanted to hold out for someone who was available more, and she encouraged me to sign up, so hopefully she’s not just trying to be nice.
I quit PTA officially. They had begged me to stay and told me how manageable it was and we could make it work and just didn't get that I couldn't do it with my work schedule anymore. Then the current president sent us a message saying she got a part time job at the school and she may need to step down because it's a lot to balance. I'm majorly side-eyeing that. Am I supposed to have sympathy that your couple hours a day job (in the school) is too tough?

This is more of a vent: I looked at my work travel schedule and I'm going to be gone 1 week a month from now till March. Those are the planned trips. Inevitably there'll be more unplanned trips. I really want to visit my BF on the east coast, but with my travel schedule, I already feel like I'm spending too much time apart from the kids, so I can't really justify another trip to go see her.
DH's contract position is ending in 2 weeks - still no other job prospects yet. That is also stressing me out. It's been so nice having him work. I've been dealing with the stress by eating a bowl of ice cream every night and not exercising.
I think I’m functionally unable to do book clubs, though I love the idea. I read multiple books a week, but once someone tells me to read something, I become a sullen adolescent. Like I introduced MIL and her friend to a mystery series I like. The latest book came out over a month ago. MIL said she wants me to hurry and read it so we can discuss it. Which makes me totally NOT WANT TO READ IT.
A coordinated random, my MIL needs to find a liberal book club of old ladies. She needs a life that doesn’t revolve around my husband and my kids.

A work friend of mine from when I was in law enforcement is on the verge of being fired. He has a negative sick leave balance due to his own and his dad's health issues over the years, but I'm convinced they're going after him due to him being morbidly obese. He passed a fit for duty physical test. He asked me to write a letter of recommendation. I don't mind because he is a very hard worker, but it's so hard to write a letter like that!
I have had an ear infection in my right ear for about 10 months. It is finally getting better and I can hear again. I woke up this morning with an ear infection in my left ear. ugh! I hate my ears.

I worked out during lunch again, and I took a great walk yesterday at lunch. GO ME, You can do it!!! Ideally I probably should be aiming to work out at least 5x a week, but if I can work out like 3-4x on my lunch break I call that success for now. Now to work on my eating habits..... grrr......
We are going to a friend's house on Saturday for several hours, so I need to feel a little slimmer by then. lol.

Work stress is causing me to break out in eczema on my legs. I don't think I've been this stressed since I was part of an HRIS implementation team at my last company, and that was before kids. I don't have enough time in my day to work and be the mom and wife I want to be. Oh, and we can't hire anyone else because supposedly we are overstaffed, which is not accurate.
mommyatty, that is me too. As soon as I'm told I have to read a book I can't seem to read anything. I really want DD to do OBOB -Oregon Battle of the Books but she does the exact same thing I do when you tell her she must read this book. Her recall from what she has read is amazing so doing a competition over book content would be right up her alley if she could just pick the books instead of reading from a list.
twinmomma, congrats on officially leaving the PTA!
DD has a date with her old 1st grade teacher today at 3:30. She is bringing her ice cream and they are going to talk about what they did over the summer and DD's big news about making the gymnastic team. I absolutely love Mrs. J.
mommyatty and 186momx, one nice thing about my book club is that no one cares if you read the book. It’s just an excuse to get together. I do like that I sometimes end up reading a book that I never would have picked up, but the end up loving, because someone picked it for our book club. A recent example is Station Eleven, which is realistic post-apocalyptic - I never would have picked it on my own because it’s not my style, but I really loved it.
soccermama don’t let the fact that you ‘should’ be doing more stop you - just a little bit makes me feel better!

So I spoke to the babysitter about her kid management problems. She seemed very frustrated. I was expecting tales of chaos and defiance.
Her main complaint for today : she tells Kid 1 not to eat in front of the TV but kid 1 “really wants to” and doesn’t listen. Then kid 2 does it too. Kid 1 claims she doesn’t actually tell her no. Umm, turn off the TV. I am underwhelmed and pretty much resolved to fire her. I am paying above average because I don’t want to have to teach someone how to do their job.
librarychica, that sounds like the afternoon "teacher" in DD's preschool class a few years ago. I'd pick her up covered in ink stamps and markers. "She likes it and cries when I stop." Yeah, there are lots of things in life that she likes and it's your job to set boundaries. In my case, it was the last straw that lead to me leaving them a drunken yelp review that got the problem solved immediately after weeks of complaining. Sadly, I don't think there's an easy option for you on this one.

My kids somehow set the fridge to showroom mode, the one button needed to fix it didn’t work and so I had to take my ice/water panel apart and fix the button. It’s a shame H is out of town. He would find that really sexy.

divanerd , so sorry to hear that. You will get to know the early warning signs. The daughter of a close friend has severe asthma and it can turn into bronchitis or pneumonia quickly, and she is now able to tell when she needs to call the doctor for an Rx or to go in for a breathing treatment. Have you considered getting a stethoscope? My friend has one and she finds it helpful for listening to the lungs (in addition to watching for breathing distress).
I survived a JoJo Siwa concert last night. A friend and I took our DDs. The girls had a blast! Although I have to say, JoJo exceeded my expectations - she put on a pretty good show (for a kids concert) and definitely knows her audience.
twinmomma good for you for quitting PTO. my friend (who is also a FT WM) is heavily invovled in our PTO. she runs her own law firm so she can easily flex her time. she wants me to get involved more, but I would rather give them $ as my free time is too valuable.
divanerd, It gets better. I have a nebulizer at home, which I can use if DS is sick, with all different meds. I also have had better luck with urgent care than the ER in terms of getting him meds and a breathing treatment quickly if what we have isn't cutting it.
Tried my first all vegan place today in Minneapolis. It was super tasty.
Waving hi! I’m in St. Paul
Hello! My first time in Minnesota! Minneapolis is a pretty city. I have been walking around all over downtown. Took a selfie with the Mary Tyler Moore statue. Wish I had time to go eat all the food at the state fair I've been hearing so much about.

I tried to quit our HOA and they have begged me to stay because no one else on our HOA does anything. I basically said I'd stay and handle emails, but I'm not doing anything next year else this year, so you better find someone to join the board or someone who is on the board who will actually do something.

DS has been really a handful lately. He doesn't want to talk about his day, he apparently isn't being nice to his tutor in the morning (who he has traditionally loved)...I have tried to carefully inquire as to whether he's having issues in school but it seems like he's having none at all. He consistently playing with his his age on the playground and generally having good group project experiences. He's just being a pill, crying a ton...its a lot. I think he's tired but it's even a problem to get him to go to bed early.
Thanks phdmomma and covergirl82 yep it was crazy I thought I was doing something good. Well definitely look into getting nebulizer and stethoscope! I am tired to say the least trying to ensure he was ok last night! Send ALL the coffee here😁
