DH has always talked about how much he and his siblings loved Playmobil growing up. DS is turning 4 in a few weeks and I'd like to get him a Playmobil set to start him off - I'm not sure if he'll like it, but it seems like something he would enjoy. I'm having a hard time deciding which one will get the most play! Does anyone have a recommendation based on ones that their ~4 year old likes? Bonus points if it all closes up nicely so it can be "put away" easily.
My ds has a bunch of Playmobil. I actually have a school will all of the furniture and the gym equipment I am about to sell. It does not close up for storage and is quite large. My ds got a ton of playtime out of it-- got it at age 5. He has had some of the small sets, but those do not get the time like the large ones.
We had a ton of Playmobil growing up (my mom still has it) and I used it way into my middle school years, playing with my siblings. We had a lot of farm animals and covered wagons and stuff and that got a lot of play and still does when my kids go to Grammy's.
My DD (5) has a Playmobil doll house, which is really versatile because you can arrange the house decor and pieces in so many different configurations. She also likes her fairy garden. We acquired a huge Playmobil pirate ship and all the accompanying pieces from a friend for like $10 and it is a big favorite when kids come over to play - it's very impressive.
I love Playmobil! Even my 10 year old still plays with it to some extent.
I wouldn't worry too much about packing it up. I mean, it does have a million tiny pieces but you can always just get a plastic box.
I'd go off of what he's interested in right now. If you go on the website, you can look at all the sets (even though they are probably cheaper elsewhere). They have really cool dino sets, police sets, space, pirate, basic vehicles, etc. I'd probably go with dino, police or fire. I love the main dino set--the T Rex Temple or whatever it's called. The space ones look cool, too.
I had a pirate ship that I won when I was in Kindergarten and I played with it until I was maybe 11? Itโs in a box downstairs waiting for my daughter to get a bit older!

I love that everyone is still so fond of Playmobil all these years later! My MIL still has the little brown house that we also had and DS plays with it every time we're there so I'm excited to get him a set. I'll have H help me pick one out
I should probably just google, but are the pieces tiny, like choking hazards? I think DD1 would love these, but probably a bad idea with a 1 year old following her around right?
Choose one that doesn't have lots of tiny pieces. I HATED the fire accessory kits. The vehicles were good though. We had a lot of police vehicles with trailers and boats.

We have a few things and my 4 year old has LOVED the school bus and has for years. My 7 year old loves it too. We also have a large orange excavator/digger truck that is also very popular with my son and with all his friends when they come over. We have the house, but the bus seems to be the most popular. It is actually amongst the most played with toys we own!!

DS1 got the zoo when he was 4.he plays with it alll the time at 5.5. Weโve added quite a few other animals to the set. Thatโs what he saves his allowance to buy. noodleoo, they also make a series for littles called playmobil 1 2 3. We have several of those sets, including the farm and Noahโs ark and they get a lot of play. I bought them for DS2 when he was 18 months.
When I've purchased sets in the past, I've searched "Playmobil" on Amazon, clicked on Prime shipping, then sorted low to high. There are usually a few steals! We keep our sets in a giant clear bin with a snapping lid.

I love playmobile, and never had it as a kid. I bought a lot of it because I wanted it. My kids only played with the take along sets. The two below, and some of the boats.

We have a ton of the vehicles and the large police station along with the travel police and fire stations. My 5yo son loves them and plays with them often.

We offered our older DD the play yard so she could play with items like this in the main living space.
