I have a list, so I am just putting them out there.
1. Volleyball coach. Coach is not just a noun, but a verb. When you take a kid out of the game, you tell them why and what they can do to improve, not just leave everyone guessing.
2. Volleyball team. Isn't it nice that there is a cliché that goes out to eat before home games. Except for about 6 of them. Hey asshat parents, a little help here? My kid is the new kid and it would be nice if you all taught a lesson in what it means to be a team and including others.
3. SIL. I am so glad cancelling DD to babysit during fall break will save you some money and time. However, I have already arranged my time off based on the fact that she would be babysitting the first part of the week. Plus, she was counting on that money to go to national convention. (I may or may not have told DH I was going to kick her). Don't book a teenage kid and then cancel on them a week out, especially on fall break when other people have to also arrange their schedules.
4. People at work. I shut my door because you people won't leave me alone. So continuous knocking does not help me get anything done. Hello, janitor who found a random cardboard box and is going around asking who's it is. Its a box. Throw it away.
5. Stomach bug. One was down last week. The other one down this week. Right before the big math test where he really needs to pull out a decent grade. Awesome.
My vent is about pools and pool guys. We have several leaks in the pipes for our inground pool. We need to cut through the patio, replace about 1/2 of the pipes, and repour the concrete patio. Also the anchors for the winter safety cover need to be reset because they will be cut out of the patio with this work.
We’ve been talking to one guy for months about this. We decided, in fact, to replumb the entire pool because the pipes are old and we will probably start finding more leaks. He agreed it was the best course, came out to evaluate several times, told us we were booked for mid-Oct.
Now he’s saying the job is too big. Fine - let’s just replace what’s broken. But, he says he has other, easier, more profitable jobs he’d rather do. Dick. Strung us along for months, now won’t return calls.
Now it’s end of season, and I can’t get any other companies to call me back. The one guy that did call me back said he would be here yesterday - never showed. Then he said he’d be here today... so I’m waiting around until/in case he shows.

1.Some people at work. We gave proxy rights to HR business partners and generalists so they could help leaders, and yet the HR people still come to us with questions from leaders that they could easily assist the leader with. We have 6 people on our team supporting this process, which involves 25,000 employees, and they have 30+ people on their HR team. It would be nice if they actually helped so we could make sure employees receive increases.
2. DOL. As if we don't have enough work to do with such a small team, we just received notification that the DOL is increasing the salary threshold for exempt employees, and it's effective 1/1/20. Awesome. Just over 2 months to implement, and we're still wrapping up our busy season. Then we'll be starting another busy season because we're changing fiscal years, so merit planning will be Jan-Mar going forward.

My first post here and it's a vent, of course.
1. I've been involved in a project at work for a while. They are rolling it out in a few weeks but no one ever told us the training schedule. Got a "heads up, but you probably knew this" email from my boss about a week-long required training. Nope, did not know. Yup, have leave scheduled.
2. Sent a ton of emails back-and-forth to my 3rd grader's teacher concerning an assignment's due date. She was going to miss the due date and I needed to know if the teacher wanted the materials returned incomplete or if we should keep them and finish the assignment. She responded with the due date. Um, OK. So I emailed back "Just to verify, we should send the materials back incomplete." She responds "does she need more time." YES, YES SHE NEEDS MORE TIME WHICH IS THE ENTIRE POINT. I didn't get a response so my kid took HOURS last night to finish it. Then I get an email that it was OK to have more time. Whatever, she finished it. And her not doing it in a timely manner was my fault. Now it's done. So I text my husband to ask if he signed off on the paper that she had finished it as today is one of the three days he's on morning duty. NOPE, NOPE HE DID NOT SIGN IT.

I am sitting in the ER waiting to be seen. Options seem to be my hernia re-opened, appendicitis, or just a muscle thing. I should have gone to the ER near home but instead tried to tough it out at work and now I'm in a much busier, inner city ER. Kicking myself for being so stubborn.
twinmomma, appendicitis symptoms for me. Pain in lower right abdomen, but started more central. Walking hunched over, any jarring made it worse. Pain when pushing in the lower right abdomen.

I also heard if you can't jump, it's likely appendicitis. I know, that sounds like a very sophisticated medical test. I hope you feel better twinmomma !!

My pain is stabbing to the right of my belly button and radiating out. It gets worse depending on how I move. Definitely worse when I press there. But, that's basically the same spot I've had hernia repair twice before. Ugh.

My boss quit. His last day was supposed to be this Friday. Yesterday his email was disabled. They apparently moved his last day to last Friday. I still haven’t officially heard that he’s leaving let alone that he’s left. No one has said a single word about it. No word on who I report to now or what the plan is or anything. I’m already stressed and this is just one more freaking thing pushing me over the edge!
DS is a total PITA at school. He’s getting his tonsils and adenoids out next week for other reasons, but lots of studies show that behavior improves after so we are pinning a whole lot of hopes on that. In the meantime though he’s upping the ante in the PITA stuff. Just behave mostly for the next few days kid!
My teenager cannot turn in al of her damn assignments. I don’t know why. She can turn in most of them, but all of them is apparently just one step too far. Turn.in.your.work!!
1) I am sorry that the date I casually mentioned several months ago no longer works for our December visit. Flights are cheaper for the new dates and my husband and I both started new jobs so our availability has changed.
2) I don't care if your adult kid can't make the new date because she has tickets to a minor league hockey game. She has season tickets - she can go to other games.
3) If you say one more time that you, "don't really care about anything but seeing C (my 6yo)," I will make sure you do not see her at all.
1) Personal tax extension deadline is 3 weeks away and I'm still waiting on a dozen clients to bring in their stuff. 2) Cold germs go the F away. My head is already killing me and I can't deal with the sinus pressure too. 3) Upstairs tenants I can hear every word you say along with the bed squeaking monkey sex that seems to be going on. Can you tone it down as I don't want to call the management company to complain about loud sex noises. EWWW!

When my boss left there wasn't an announcement but they did tell me. Wow.
I had someone (that works in my company) a week ago express total shock that my boss was gone and he left in May. That's what you get when you don't tell anyone someone left peeps.

mustardseed2007, mrsGreeko, DH went golfing last Friday and ran into a guy who was a VP at the same company DH is at, until about 2 weeks ago. Apparently it was very sudden. A communication was never sent out. DH said hi to the guy and asked a "small talk" question about work, and the guy responded that he's not there anymore. So DH felt kind of sheepish. But I told him, how was he supposed to know, being so new to the company and not very connected yet?
I feel like it happens more and more now, that no one is told when people leave (whether voluntary or involuntary), and I think it's a bad management practice.

DH got mad at me last night for asking the contractor that we are having patch the holes from the electrician for an estimate to drywall the bathroom that has been gutted. His reason was that I didn't talk to him about it first. Well 1. it was a last minute thought I had while I was showing him all of the holes in the entire house. 2. You put your f'ing phone on top of your closed tailgate and when it was found (after driving around town for 10 miles) it shattered when it hit the ground, so I couldn't call you during my meeting with the contractor. 3. All I've heard about your drywall skills is that you dont mind hanging it but you hate finishing it and you aren't good at it. So, my bad for trying to be helpful.
It's going to take me a day or two to get past this one I think because WTF.

Vent: School pictures!!!!!
DS looked super stylish for pictures today as far as his clothes, but he won't let us do anything with his hair, so it just messes with his handsomeness. He insists on having his bangs straight forward, straight across his forehead like the dumb and dumber guys. Swish it to the side DS!!!!
Also, I love sibling pictures at school, but also hate having to coordinate them. This year, as is often the case, I do not think I really succeeded. Oh f'n well.
twinmomma , do you have a gallbladder? Did they do an US to check for stones?
Yes, I have one. And yes, they did an ultrasound. Found nothing. If it continues I'll just call my PCP and the hernia surgeon to check it out. I wasn't overly impressed with how the ER handled checking on that piece of it but I was just done and getting more miserable the longer I had to sit there in a waiting room chair.
twinmomma , yeah it kind of sounds like they were doing the least.
mustardseed2007 , DS won't put his to the side either. His is longer hair though, so I guess it doesn't look like Dumb and Dumber. I get yelled at by DD for picking the wrong background. Y'all, she picked that background and I put it on the sheet. I did not pick the wrong one! She looks cute, but since her hair is in a braid, it just looks like she has no hair- oops. I didn't get sibling pictures this year, I wonder why?

waverly, His hair is longer too so I guess its not really dumb and dumber. That's wasn't nice of me to say....I'm the worst.
At our school they put them on a bench outside and take the picture so actually no background. It's kind of different. But also kind of stinks because last year DS had a squinty look due to the sun.
We forgot it was picture day for DS2 last week. We are both stretched so thin right now that we Totally forgot. Dh said he forgot to brush ds’s hair that day too. Oh well, they’re probably the most realistic ones we have.

I kind of like it when the pictures actually look like kids I know... lol

1) One of our company’s senior leaders is questioning why one of my groups isn’t shrinking. Um, maybe because we all worked straight through for over three months this spring while the entire flipping Midwest was flooded? We are frankly too small to do all the stuff we manage to pull off. But now I’ve had to spend HOURS justifying the size of my team. How about this? Because halfway through this year, we’ve saved $600,000, which means we have spent 1/3 what we would normally would have. Plus with all that flooding, we saved the company almost $2 million by doing work in-house we would have paid a premium to consultants to do otherwise. So leave my 3.5 FTE the f alone, assholes.
2) I have a kindergarten kid and a 2nd grader. All the work we have to do at home is CRAZY. DS just started getting books sent home. He reads them to us. When he can read them with minimal help, he reads them to his teacher and gets a new one. He also has sight words to practice every day. And math on the iPad. Every. Fucking. Day. DD has a worksheet or two every day, plus 15 min of reading 4 days a week, plus math on the computer 3 days a week. This week she had a Spanish test and a science test to study for, plus her normal Friday spelling test. It is just Too. Fucking. Much. They are 5 and 7 for God’s Sake.
