I finished the series tonight- it's been a really hard one to watch, but, so very well done.
I have a lot to say (SCREAM), but, I'll wait until others have caught up.
Yes waiting for others to catch up. I recently went to a training at an org to help those who are at risk of getting deported. The training definitely emphasized how this just isn’t a new problem, but how both democrats and republicans have had a hand in it. I’m glad the documentary did touch on this a bit when it talked about Clinton’s policies that are deeply disturbing. I just don’t want people to think everything is ok when this horrible administration is gone.

I havent finished watching yet (only a few episodes in) but I’m so glad about this too. Clinton and also Obama rapidly escalated things on the immigration front. Under Obama there was good (DACA!) and bad (omg so many deportations.) No one in politics should be able to escape criticism for the havoc these poorly thought out and cruel policies have wreaked. I’m hoping I’ll be able to finish the series this week so I can be part of the discussion!
I've only watched one episode so far. I feel so much fear, sadness and anger for what immigrants have to go through and how cruel our elected officials have been/continue to be. Both Dem and GOP have blood on their hands.
@@@@@@@ - people who came from desperate circumstances (Honduras), facing deportation while pregnant, and how kids live in such instability as a result
- a military wife whose HUSBAND voted for TRUMP (grrrrrrr!!!!!) thinking she wouldn't be targeted - and now she is facing deportation and will take her U.S. citizen daughter with her, to live presumably in less desirable circumstances than they have in the U.S., because there is no one to care for her in the U.S. with her dad working all the time.
- a family from Israel, who came as visitors hoping to be able to immigrate rather than go back and live close to Tel Aviv, who are entrepreneurs and contributors to society but if found out will be deported. It was also interesting to see the risk to the man's business partner - if he gets deported it could significantly impact that man's livelihood too. But the benefit seems to outweigh the risk so he does it anyway.
I liked that they showed the fucked up system is thanks to both parties' actions, including Bill Clinton's.
I also feel a bit numb to the cases in this first episode. I wasn't crying like others reported it. It isn't shocking to me. I've been having these conversations directly with our employees on Temporary Protected Status for a couple of years now. I'm kind of angry every day about it - but not surprised by anything so far, which is what i think would drive me to tears. Sad state of affairs to be so numb to such situations.
